Can you take Tylenol before getting Juvederm lip injections?

Question

I am getting my lips done, and I am aware to stay away from the vowel medications that thin your blood. I also do know I can take Tylenol after injections, but can I take it an hour or so prior to my appointment to help reduce pain and being tense? Will this affect the product of Juvaderm?

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Tylenol does not have an effect on your blood like ibuprofen or aspirin can have so it is safe to take before Juvederm lip injections.  Hope this helps.

This is an excellent question, thank you for sharing. Yes, Tylenol (acetaminophen) is completely safe to take prior to injections, surgery, etc., because it does not thin your blood. Other medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil thin the blood, which increases the risk of bruising after your procedure. In my practice, I like to use the microcannula technique when injecting dermal fillers because the blunt tip prevents puncturing blood vessels. Motrin, Aspirin and a multitude of other medications and supplements can cause bleeding and make the healing process more involved. Tylenol itself will not negatively affect juvederm.

There should be no problem with you taking Tylenol prior to getting any of you injections. You are correct in staying away from Aspirin, Ibuprofen and Advil, as they can increase risk for bleeding and therefore bruising. Tylenol should not effect the Juvederm in any way.

Prior to any type of injection whether it be botox or a filler, it is best to stay away from medications that thin the blood. A small list of these blood thinners include Aspirin, Midol, Excedrin, Motrin, Advil etc. Discontinue taking these medications a week prior to your injectable appointment. The best medication to take for pain would be Tylenol. Make sure to ask your physician for an ice pack, that will help with the swelling. Last thing, to help speed up the healing process, Arnica tablets should be taken the day of the injections and continued for a week, this helps with bruising and swelling as well.
