Juvederm lip fillers after jaw and chin implants?

Question

I am getting chin and jaw implants tomorrow ( Thursday the 19th). My stitches are to come out Wednesday (the 25th). My incisions for the jaw will be inside the mouth and the incision for the chin will be external. I wanted to get my lips done while still off work for recovers as to not have to take off again. Is next Thursday (the 26th) too soon or should my lips and facial implants not effect eachother? Thank you

You will have swelling after your implant procedures. I recommend allowing the swelling to subside before getting lip injections. I hope this helps!

Keep in mind, you will have swelling after your procedure. I recommend waiting for the swelling to resolve before getting lip augmentation. These fillers, (Volbella, Restylane, Juvederm) are good to create a full and symmetrical lip. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

I would recommend avoiding implants.  the chin and jaw are usually better addressed with osteotomies (cutting and moving the bone) which surprisingly has a very similar recovery to implant placement.  It is however enduring and avoids the many late complications of implants.  If you do have implants you will be swollen but an experienced surgeon will likely be able to treat your lips.  Extreme care should be practiced injecting around implants to avoid introducing bacteria and filler product to the implant space. Thank you for sharing your question. I can understand your desires but I think you will likely have too much swelling in and around your perioral region to obtain a reliable outcome with lip fillers. I would allow yourself further time to heal from the implants and then pursue slow, incremental filler additions to your lips until obtaining your goal result.  Hope this helps.

As long as there is no lip change or swelling as a result of the surgery (there shouldn't be), there would be no issue in getting lip fillers done so soon after your surgery. Best to speak with a highly trained cosmetic expert such as a dermatologist to ensure optimal results & safety.

Allow the swelling from the surgery to subside before you have the lip augmentation so proper facial balance can be maintained after the procedure. Lip augmentation requires advanced injection techniques so ensure that you choose an experienced and expert physician injector.

Jaw and Chin surgery should not be taken lightly. You may have significant swelling even 10 days after the procedure. If you receive lip augmentation with all the swelling being present, you may get a result that you don't truly desire. Speak to your surgeon if they feel you're ready for lip augmentation. Thank you for your question. As long as the swelling in your lips and mouth is minimal by that point, it should be fine. However, I would just ask the person you are planning to get injections by for final approval. A lot of time with chin / jaw surgery, the entire lower face (and sometimes the lips) can be bruised or slightly swollen for a couple weeks after surgery - which could affect any filler you may want in these areas.
