I had Juvaderm injected three times to raise a indented scar on my scalp and it goes right back down in 2 days. I want to have scar subcision done to release it, I want to know if this will kill the hair.
Answer: Subcision on Scalp and Possible Hair Loss I recommend getting a consultation. It may be possible to perform subcision to the scar without permanent hair loss. There are options to help with hair regrowth following your procedure. I hope this helps!

Answer: Scalp scar that is giving you pause As Dr. Emer has stated It is hard to say without pictures at this time. One thing that might be wary is that subcision may transect (ie cut) some of the hair follicles and lead to hair loss. However, as long as there isn't deeper scarring there should not be permanent scarring. For scarring we recommend doing microneedling (less invasive), Fraxel (non-ablative), or Co2 laser (Deep Fx). If those do not improve it can consider volume repletion with Juvederm Voluma or other Hyaluronic acids. I would recommend you see a Board certified Dermatologist or Plastic surgeon that is trained in these practices. I appreciate the question.

Answer: Improving scar on scalp with subcision and fillers--add lasers, microneedling/prp This is difficult to answer without pictures and needs an in-person evaluation. Subcision can improve scars. I recommend combining subcision and fillers with lasers and microneedling/prp. Prp and progesterone can be used to help regrow hair. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Scalp scar The results depends on the size of your scar. If scar is extensive one may be well served with thick filler above the galea to elevate the entire area, then, more superficially, any filler could be injected to fill the rest. If scar is small than submission should work well although there will be always a chance to injure viable follicles. I am sure that fat transfer could work well but my experience with fat transfer is very limited. However, I have used Allofill allograft (filler derived from human fat) and it works well so far, including scars. Good luck!
