Skin really tight after alar base reduction? What else can I do to speed up the loosening of my skin? (Photo)

I had alar base reduction with my surgery 2 weeks ago and hate how small and flat they were made, and every time I smile my skin is so tight and 'pulled'. I read I should massage the incision scars to help scar tissue and also massage and stretch the surrounding skin. What else can I do to speed up the loosening of my skin? how long will this last?

This is a very common symptom. It is not unusual for skin to feel very tight, particularly when you smile and things were loosen off in their own time. There's not much you can do to encourage this I would discourage you from massaging or stretching the area manually. Give it time, I'm sure things will improve dramatically over the next few weeks.

Thank you for your question.You just need to give it time. The skin will in time relax. How long this will take is very variable. A silicon containing ointment like Prosil may also help with softening of the scars. But please discuss this with your surgeon before using it.Kind regards!
