1.5 months ago, I got my 2nd treatment for mesolipo. 2 weeks after, my arms start to itch and hurt. 1 month after treatment, more pain and bruising. Doctor did RF to soften the lumps and prescribed Augmentin but he seems unsure. My skin started peeling and sometimes I get sharp pains plus constant dull pain. Will it get infected and become an open wound? I would like to seek a second opinion from another doctor but I'm also not sure what kind of specialist would be most suitable for this.
Answer: Fat necrosis after mesolipo Thank you for your question and sharing your photographs. I am so sorry to hear that your treatment did not go well. The lumps and scars look worrying and I would suggest not to proceed with further treatments of the mesolipo. You should seek a second opinion with a MOH-certified plastic surgeon. You would need to treat the underlying condition before corrective procedures can be done to restore the contour defects and scars.I hope this answers your question. Have a great weekend!Rgds,Dr. Terence GohPlastic SurgeonAZATCA Plastic Surgery

Answer: Getting a second opinion The only appropriate doctor to get a second opinion from is a board-certified plastic surgeon. This procedure is not routinely done in the United States. Liposuction is in my opinion a far better treatment option. At this point it's unlikely any intervention is necessary other than giving this ample time to heal. The treatment you had done is distractive to tissues to the point of killing fat cells. The inflammatory response is typically quite intense. Tissue necrosis is in a sense what you signed up for when you had this treatment. The procedure works by chemicals killing fat cells i.e. necrosing fat cells or fat necrosis. It looks like you have some inflammation but no evidence of a clinical infection so antibiotics should not be needed. I would not use radiofrequency treatment or any other treatments until this has had enough time to heal on its own. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.

Answer: IDEAL Liposuction Dear Eden,Hello and thank you for your excellent question. It is best to answer your question during a face-to-face evaluation, when you can discuss your goals and expectations for the procedure, and you can have a physical examination to evaluate for that procedure. I recommend that you find a board-certified, or board-eligible plastic surgeon with whom you are comfortable. Be sure to have all of your questions answered during a face-to-face meeting with your surgeon, and review before and after pictures of similar patients whom have had this procedure. If you have any questions, call our office for assistance. Good luck!
