Hello, I had water assisted liposuction on my calves 12 weeks ago. I wore a compression garnment for 6 weeks as my doctor advised. However my other calf is still very lumpy and seems like some spots are very hard. Also when I touch it, it feels strange. As it looks very ugly I am now panicking if it will ever return to normal, and what can be done to possibly make it heal? Thank you. Attaching some photos here.

Answer: Calf liposuction Hello and thank you for your question. Liposuction of the calves is tricky procedure since in this area less is more. Also irregularities show up very quickly. However liposuction also triggers a lot of swelling and final result is not obvious till about 6 months after the procedure. It is best to continue massaging the area and wear compression garments. Follow up with your plastic surgeon if it continues to bother you. I hope this helps and wish you all the best. Inzhili Kitto, M.D. Instagram: @dr_Kitto

Answer: Problems after liposuction at three months your results are getting close to being final. Don't expect any substantial improvements with time though it may be in the subtle way get better. Calves and ankles are by far the technically most difficult area to do liposuction on the body with the highest chance of uneven contours, delayed healing and prolonged swelling. Many if not most plastic surgeons do not offer this procedure. Most likely these are your final results and will not improve. You could consider revision surgery but considering that your first procedure made things worse I could only imagine a revision but the same provider giving you more of what you already have and don't like. No non-surgical intervention will make any significant difference. This is once again a reminder that just because we went to plastic surgery school does not mean we know how to do every procedure really well. Best, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
