Sorry you are having these problems, however I do not believe that your liposuction surgery is the cause of these symptoms because adequate recovery time has passed. You may ask your plastic surgeon about prescribing muscle relaxant to break the cycle of muscle contractions. Good luck.

Charlie horses are a type of muscle spasm that may have resulted from the surgery. The best course of action is to schedule an appointment with your board certified plastic surgeon for intervention. Muscle spasm is relatively simple to deal with and does not require any surgical procedure.

it would be helpful if we knew what procedure you had done. Sometimes patients can develop pain syndromes after surgery. This sometimes happens after hand surgery but is less common after abdominal surgery.  At this point you may want to ask your doctor to order an MRI of your abdominal wall or the area that was involved with whatever surgical procedure you had.  There is a high likelihood there is no treatment option. That said generally pain after surgery does improve even if it's present at six months.  Is still present at six months you may have some chronic discomfort unless a significant reason for your pain can be found.  The work up for this may be a little bit like finding a needle in the haystack and you may not ever find the needle.  You may also consider going to one or more pain specialists for second opinions.  Best of luck, Mats Hagstrom M.D.
