Does Amerigroup cover a mommy makeover?

Question

I would like to have some procedures done. I feel so gross with my body, I can't take it anymore. I'd rather just stay home so no one can see me... I will never be able to afford this cosmetic procedure as a single mom. I only have one child (now 9 y.o.) but the pregnancy has taken a toll on my body and my happiness. I've never felt so horrible. Does anyone know if my insurance would cover this or part of it?? Please help... I will be forever grateful for any advice. Thank you for your time. ☺

Insurance does not cover cosmetic operations. If part of a mommy makeover constellation of operations is functional, such as a hernia repair, this portion might fall under the coverage in your policy.

Good question but unfortunately insurance does not cover cosmetic surgery. The mommy makeover can enhance your body contour and shape and is done at me surgical center. Most patients stay overnight to recover.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear pregnancy has taken such a toll on your body and spirit. Unfortunately, since a mommy makeover is considered strictly a cosmetic procedure, and not medically necessary, most insurance companies would not cover any part of it.  The exception may be if you required a breast reduction due to back or shoulder pain.  Even this, however, is often not covered by insurance. For the most part, women  seeking breast enhancement after pregnancy are interested in a breast lift or breast augmentation along with a tummy tuck and/or liposuction.  For qualified patients, many  plastic surgery offices now offer Care Credit to make procedures more affordable. The procedures often included in a Mommy Makeover are breast lift, augmentation or both, a tummy tuck and liposuction though these are variable based on patient goals.  They are considered elective and are not covered by insurance.  Many board certified plastic surgeons will accept financing through companies such as PatientFi and CareCredit.
