Swelling in legs 6+ months post Lipo. Is this normal?

I had Lipo of inner / outer thighs and flanks in may 2017. I healed fast except for leg swelling. Ever since this operation I’ve had erratic leg swelling. immediately after surgery and even 3-4 months PO I get. I’m now 6+ months PO and when I wake up my legs are not swollen and by time it’s evening my jeans are tight and thighs and calves are puffy. I eat super clean , workout, drink a lot water. is this normal and or related to Lipo or perhaps something completely unrelated ? I’m at a loss

Thank you for your questions. From what you are describing, I do not think this has anything to do with your liposuction procedure. I would bet this is from venous insufficiency. I would see your regular doctor or a vein specialist for an evaluation.Good luck!

Dear amyk69,6 months after liposuction there can still be some minor swelling but it should not cause any issues. I would suggest you to consult your plastic surgeon and physician to fnd out the exact cause of your swelling and what can you do to resolve it.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS

Sorry to hear about your problem, amyk69.
It’s normal to have liposuction-related swelling even up to one year after your plastic surgery. 
However, the swelling should be minimal by now, so I suggest you consult a licensed physician to know if there are any other reasons why you’re experiencing swelling and puffiness specifically in the evening.

your later in the day leg swelling is probably not related to the liposuction.  it could be related to venous insuffiency, or to abnormal fluid retention.  it could also be due to early heart failure.  you need an overall comprehensive clinical evaluation.
