Although the risk is very low, it could not be stated to be zero as fat embolus has occurred with liposuction alone.
Lisa. Liposuction is an extremely safe procedure with very low risk of death. Practioners who are not board certified plastic surgeons offer liposuction in their offices under just local anesthesia do so because they do not have Hospital privileges to do it there. I have treated patients who had lidocaine overdose by such practioners, requiring hospitalization and treatment in Intensive care un its. Be sure to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon and follow their advice. Good luck!
The death percentage from liposuction is extremely rare. However, I recommend liposuction under general anesthesia because it allows the practitioner to remove more fat and do more body shaping and contouring. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer
Generally, liposuction under local anesthesia is practiced by physicians who are not board certified as plastic surgeon and don't have hospital privileges or properly accredited surgery center privileges.
The incidence of death is very rare. The risk of complications is more commonly associated with lack of credentialing on part of the facilities and the practitioner. Be sure to ask about board certification and what specialty in particular. Remember there is no such thing as a board of cosmetic surgery. You should also be aware of which hospital and surgery centers your surgeon is working with.Best of luck! Dr. Boschert
Thank you for your question. Liposuction is a body contouring procedure, not a weight loss solution or a solution for inflammation, so it would not be able to help your problem. I would seek the expertise of your family doctor. Best of luck!
First off, 2500 cc is 2.5 Liters, a good amount. Three weeks is way too early to worry, as you most certainly are still swollen. Allow at least 4-6 months to pass before worrying about final result. Best of luck!
Thank you for your question and photos. Based on your photos, you appear to have a nice result. It is normal to have some extra skin post liposuction due to the decrease in the abdomen’s volume. The fact that it is only visible when you bend or constrict indicates that your skin quality i...
I would get clearance from a neurologist to determine if there is anything else that needs to be done before considering elective surgery.
Thank you for your question. Yes, the flanks are the sides of the abdomen. The exact area really depends on where you have fat to lipo, but most of the time it's more towards the back. If you are planning a surgery, make sure that the PS shows you exactly where he or she plans to lipo so there...
Thank you for asking about your liposuction recovery.I understand your concern - and be sure to mention to your surgeon. However swelling from liposuction moves downward - and it enters all tissues. So your numbness is totally consistent with swelling from liposuction.Swelling gradually subsides...
