I’m 34, had a baby via c-section 2 years ago. Am almost back to pre pregnancy weight but cannot get rid of my stomach pouch. I want my waist back! Can I do this with just liposuction or will I need a tummy tuck?
Answer: Tummy Tuck vs Lipo Hello, The tummy tuck with remove your loose skin and fix any muscle separation. Liposuction will only remove the "bulk" from the area. With that being said, if you just have Liposuction you may still be left with loose skin in the area. A tummy tuck will give you the best result. Please always consult with your board certified plastic surgeon. - Dr. Joe

Answer: Tummy tuck Hello, based on the photographs provided, the prominence of your lower abdomen is most likely caused by rectus diastasis which can only be corrected with a surgical repair. This is routinely done as part of an abdominoplasty. Liposuction can be added to improve contour. I hope you find this helpful.

Answer: Diastasis recti Thanks for your question! That "pooch" is likely from a diastasis recti (or muscle separation). I don't think you will need a full tummy tuck, but some sort of tummy tuck is going to be the right answer. Liposuction likely won't make much of a difference. Good luck!

Answer: Tummy Tuck vs. Liposuction: Which is Right for Post-C-Section Stomach Pouch? Thank you for your request regarding whether you need a tummy tuck or liposuction to address your stomach pouch after a C-section. Based on your history and pictures, it appears that you have excess skin, excess fat, and weakened abdominal muscles, likely due to your pregnancy. While liposuction effectively removes fat, it relies on your skin's ability to tighten up afterward. Given your history and the changes from pregnancy, your skin may not have the elasticity needed to tighten on its own. Additionally, only a tummy tuck will address the weakened muscles, which are a key factor in achieving a flatter, more contoured abdomen. Therefore, most plastic surgeons would recommend a tummy tuck for your situation. This procedure will remove excess skin, tighten the abdominal muscles, and give you a more defined waistline. I hope this helps to answer your question. Sincerely, J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FASMBS, FICS

Answer: Bulge Dear 3ladybug, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Based on your photos and history, it is most likely muscle separation so liposuction won't help much. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations.
