Answer: Swelling in Abdomen and Flanks After Eating Post-Tummy Tuck: What to Do? Hello abbey0125. Thank you for your question regarding the swelling in your abdomen and flanks after eating, two years post-extended tummy tuck. The swelling you're experiencing after eating is likely related to the natural process of digestion. As food moves from your stomach into your intestines, it's normal for the abdomen to expand slightly. This isn't typically related to your tummy tuck surgery but more to how your body is processing food. To help manage this swelling, I would suggest trying to eat smaller meals more frequently throughout the day. This can help prevent the feeling of fullness and swelling. Additionally, consider looking at the types of foods you're eating. High-fiber foods, certain carbohydrates, or foods that are harder to digest can cause more bloating and discomfort. It might be beneficial to consult with a registered dietitian or nutritionist who can help you tailor your diet to minimize these symptoms. While this is not a plastic surgery issue, managing your diet effectively should help you enjoy your tummy tuck results more fully. I hope this helps to answer your question. Sincerely, J. Answer: How much do you eat? Swelling can occur if a large volume of fiber and water are consumed. Consuming low volumes of high protein and fat rich foods may prevent this issue. You do not have a major medical problem. Seek medical evaluation if you are truly concerned.
