How many rhinoplasties should the ideal surgeon perform a year?

To answer your first question, while I cannot give you a magic number, you do want a surgeon who performsrhinoplasty on a regular basis. Generally I consider the minimum to be at least weekly, so it sounds like this surgeon meets that criteria.Some other things you should be considering:-board certification (and in a board specific for rhinoplasty such as facial plastic surgeon, otolaryngology or plastic surgery.-before and after images. An experienced surgeon should be able to show you a wide variety of cases with excellent results.-word of mouth or online reviews-  we all expect some bad reviews, but in general you should see that patients have been pleased with your surgeon.-Your gut feeling- do you like the surgeon? are you comfortable and confident in their abilities?Rhinoplasty is the most challenging cosmetic procedure-do not rush your decision.

Hi. Don't fixate on numbers. What if he does 100 per year and 50% of his patients are dissatisfied? Quality not quantity should be your goal.You need to seek the advise of a board certified surgeon with plenty of experience. Remember this is your face....can't cover it up! Furthermore request to see before and after photos of previous patients by that doctor....not a clinic or surgery center. Do your homework......research and verify the doctor's credentials.  I am done Rhinoplasty for more than 35 years. More important than the number of rhinoplasties  a surgeon does is the quality of the work and  his results.The type of rhinoplasty  that a surgeon does for your kind of nose is what you were going to get. Therefore choose a surgeon who does many rhinoplasties  but does them very well and noses is that you like.

Yes, you would want to have a surgeon who is preforming more than a few rhinoplasies a year. But the number is not as important as is the results. Look at a number of their before and after photos, ask to speak to former patients, and make sure the results look natural. The communication and rapport you have with your surgeon is critical. Look for an expert in rhinoplasty. It is a specialty within a specialty. Best of luck.

1 to 2 surgeries per week would seem reasonable.  I would search for the surgeon who you feel is most likely to give you
the best results. Look at reviews and before and after pictures on that

Don't care.  Many surgeons inflate their numbers.  You want a careful, meticulous surgeon who understands the nose and how to reshape it.  Even the best surgeons, however, will need to perform minor revisions.

I think that a good surgeon is a good surgeon and numbers whether large or small will not dictate there skill set.  Look at their results.

Interesting question. Actually the question should be, "how many excellent rhinoplasties should a plastic surgeon do per year" , and the answer should be , "most of them".  The fact is that while experience is helpful, some surgeons spend their whole careers producing mediocre results and others have the eye and skill from early on. Online research is nice but can be misleading since it is basically advertising and now reviews can be manipulated, paid for, and faked , or can even be from an unscrupulous competitor. I would recommend asking to see typical results on patients like you at consult and , considering the procedure is quite expensive, I would somehow budget a way to see at least three surgeons. 50 rhinoplasty procedures per year is only one per week, so it is very important to look at the  quality of the results.

Certainly your surgeon should have sound training and experience with rhinoplasty. However the real issue is the quality of the result and you should investigate his website to see if you like what the surgeon does. Computer simulation in the office can help you see for yourself what the goal should be like and the confidence that you and the surgeon have a common understanding.
