When is it ok to start putting the scar ointment on the incision for tummy tuck ? Bcz I'm two weeks post op and this incision is starting to really itch! The stitches are still there but what can I do to stop the itching?
Answer: Scar care after a tummy tuck Scar care after a tummy tuck can begin any time the incision is fully closed and strong enough to not be disturbed. In most cases, this would happen between seven and 10 days. Plastic surgeons will surely have different approaches to this, so you should follow your plastic surgeons advice, as it pertains to your specific incision.

Answer: Incision is itching two weeks post op. When is it OK to start putting the scar ointment on the incision? Thank you for your question and I am sorry to hear of your itching. I would first reach out to your surgeon to discuss the possibility of applying ointment to your incision site as they know how your healing has progressed since surgery. If unable to reach your surgeon for clarification you may want to consider either benadryl or an OTC hydrocortisone cream around the incisions to help your itch severity. Best wishes!

Answer: Scar ointment This is a great question for your surgeon. He/she needs to give you the green light in regards to putting ointments and creams on your incision. In my practice, I typically wait until the sutures are out before beginning a silicone scar based treatment.
