I have a weak chin and a steep gonial angle as well as a dorsal hump. Ideally I would love to have an implant to reduce the angle of the mandible by ten degrees along with a chin implant (and possibly a slight reduction in chin length), and a rhinoplasty. I would like suggestions for the preferred shape of my nose that will keep the character of my face but be more in balance with my other features. I'd also love advice for what to do about my jaw. Thank you in advance for your help and consideration.
Answer: Improving a weak chin and nasal dorsal hump Thank you for your question and helpful photos.I think you are a perfect candidate for a chin implant and a Rhinoplasty procedure. The balance you are seeking are easily achievable with the right implant and a closed rhinoplasty to reduce the hump. Best wishes,Gary Horndeski M.D.

Answer: Rhinoplasty and Jaw Surgery Hello,A rhinoplasty will help improve your nasal appearance. You are a good candidate for either a sliding genioplasty or prosthetic chin augmentation. Depending on your bi-mandibular width, you might benefit from angle implants. Having your photos digitally imaged will help you and your surgeon plan the best course. Best of luck!

Answer: Rhinoplasty and chin implant candidate The profile photographs demonstrate a weak and recessive chin profile, and an overly projecting nose with a dorsal hump. A closed rhinoplasty approach can accomplish shaving down the dorsal hump, narrowing the bridge line and refining the tip if necessary. Placement of a chin implant can help bring the chin forward to help balance the side profile, especially with respect to the overly projecting nose. Chin implants are composed of Silastic, are placed through small incision underneath the chin without screw fixation and are placed in a very precise pocket. A chin implant can be performed as a stand-alone procedure under local anesthesia, or in combination with the rhinoplasty procedure under general anesthesia. Computer imaging performed at the time of the consultation and examination would also be helpful to understand what can be accomplished on your facial features. For many examples of this combination, please see the video and the link below to our chin implant/ closed rhinoplasty photo gallery

Answer: Looking for balance: I have a weak chin and a steep gonial angle as well as a dorsal hump. Nasal cosmetic surgery and a chin implant are frequently performed together in the appropriate patient. The ideal aesthetic result should be individualized to achieve harmony with your other facial features and improve the areas that concern you. Whether a chin implant or a more extensive jaw surgery would be optimal depends on multiple factors including your desired outcome and personal anatomy. Keep in mind that following advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on two dimensional photos without examining you, physically feeling your tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history and discussing the pros and cons of the operative procedure would not be in your best interest. Natural appearing results need to be individualized and what is appropriate for one patient is not necessarily the best for someone else. I would suggest that you find a surgeon with extensive rhinoplasty experience certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and one who is ideally a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) or a facial plastic surgeon (otolaryngologist) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. The extent and length of the procedure, cost, and the specific operative steps to achieve an ideal cosmetic result vary from patient to patient and would depend on the findings at your consultation examination.
