i had botox in my forehead ten days ago and i am suffering badly now. chest pain, heartbeating fast, sweating, diarrhea, anxiety, feeling off. tendon pain, etc. my doctor doesn't know what to do. how soon will these system stop. if i go to ER can they do anything? like giving me Antitoxin? please help. this is really uncomfortable and scary
Answer: There is antitoxin available but it will not help you. You probably have a very mild systemic botulism. The toxin that causes these symptoms is already fixed to nerve end plates. The antitoxin is only effective for neutralizing unbound botulinum toxin. These types of symptoms are usually at there worst for only a couple of weeks but of course it can persist longer. It is uncomfortable. Do not have botulinum toxin based drugs again. You are having these symptoms due to an idiosyncratic sensitivity to the medication. It may be that you are on a mediciation that heightens your sensitivity to clinical botulism. You should go to the emergency room if you feel your symptoms are life threatening including difficulty swallowing and shortness of breath. The reaction you are having is very rare but likely to occur with any of the brands. Please update up on your progress and I hope you feel better very soon.

Answer: Botox Side Effects--See a Doctor for a formal evaluation It is unlikely that the symptoms you described are as a result of Botox. However, if it persists, I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a Doctor to determine cause and treatment. Botox results last 3-4 months and can be softened with Venus Legacy treatments. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Botox side effects? Your reported side effect of chest pain, accelerated heart beat, sweating, diarrhea, are all part of anxiety and have not been reported with Botox injections. A review of the literature and reported cases indicate that risk of developing systemic effects is related to injections of greater than 600 units of Botox occurring every three months. THIS DOSING IS NEVER DONE IN THE FACE. This dose of 600 units is only injected for muscle disorders and is not a cosmetic procedure. When this very very rare side effect occurs for muscle medical conditions you would experience mild generalized weakness, and not the symptoms you have described. The most common side effect from Botox into the face using the average dose of 50-60 units is a headache. These do not last more than a few days. If your symptoms persist, you will need to see your Primary Care Physician for management and also see the injector so they can evaluate you. I hope you feel better!
