After losing 140 lbs I plan on getting a mommy makeover. What treatment can be done to correct the skin/fat that hangs over bra line? Is that covered in a breast lift? I wanted to avoid an arm lift with incision to my elbow due to being prone to keloids could an incision go in the arm pit?
Answer: Hanging bra rolls... Hello MarieMC.Congratulations on your weight loss. There are several options for you to consider. For the large rolls, you can combine an incision with a breast lift that targets the bra rolls. This is sometimes call an upper bodylift or a bra lift. The plan involves placing the incision in the bra line or bikini line so that scars hide well.A mommy makeover operation can include a breast lift with breast implants, a tummy tuck and a bra roll lift and be performed safely as long as it takes less that six hours and you're healthy. All of these operations carry the risks of scarring so planning and scar therapy are critical components for achieving a good outcome. I suggest Embrace Scar Defense for best results.Best wishes. Answer: Excess skin Congratulations on your weight loss! Some of this excess skin can be addressed during a breast lift. That which can't may be addressed in a bra line lift. A visit to a board certified plastic surgeon in your area for a consultation will provide the most accurate advice. An examination will reveal how much skin needs to be addressed and options for doing so.

Answer: Removal of excess skin around the bra Excess skin that hangs over the bra can certainly be removed surgically. This isn't technically part of a breast lift, but can certainly be done at the same time. I would recommend scheduling a consultation with a board-certified Plastic Surgeon in your area.

Answer: What can be done to correct the fat/skin that hangs over bra? Thank you for your pictures and questions. Congrats on your weight loss! In massive weight loss patients, this area is a very common concern. Some of the anterior portion of the skin excess can be addressed at the same time as a breast lift (mastopexy). However, if you are not having a breast procedure, a bra line back lift can be done (or in combination with a breast procedure) to eliminate excess skin from the lateral upper chest and around to the back. See the link provided under "body lift" for an example. And make sure you are seeing a local plastic surgeon who is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.Hope this helps!

Answer: Consultation needed Hello and thank you for your question. Congratulations on your weight loss. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. This area of excess tissue and skin can be excised as part of your breast lift. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
