I’ve heard doctors say to stop vitamins and herbals 2 weeks prior to surgery. Was curious if bone broth protein was ok before mommy makeover surgery. Also, would it be ok after mommy makeover surgery?
Answer: Can I drink bone broth before surgery? I would have to politely disagree with the other opinions and am a huge proponent of Bone Broth both before and after surgery. While you should check with your doctor, I actually recommend this to all of my patients and wrote about its benefits in my book, "Eat Drink Heal: The Art and Science of Surgical Nutrition".I hope that helps and wish you the very best!-Gregory A Buford MD FACSBoard Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author

Answer: Supplements It should be fine for you to have bone broth protein before and after surgery, but it is always best to check with your surgeon as opinions vary. Your surgeon needs to be aware of all prescriptions, over the counter medications and supplements that you take. Good luck with your upcoming surgery!

Answer: Ok to drink bone broth protein before mommy makeover surgery? (photo) Most PSs provide a list of vitamins, medications, herbs, etc. to avoid before and after surgery. Best to check with your PS to determine if he/she is adverse to you drinking bone broth protein. If you are in good general health and all medical conditions have been managed, adequate protein intake can be useful. Our office recommends that our patients take 100 grams of protein per day in the healing phase for the first six weeks following surgery. Answer: Ok to drink bone broth protein before mommy makeover surgery? You should discuss what medications, supplements, and vitamins you are taking, both prescription and over the counter, with your plastic surgeon and have him or her decide what you should and should not be taking. Your surgeon should be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). It is important to follow all pre and post-operative instructions. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California
