Chin implant & nose job done separately in what order? (Photo)

Thank your for supplying your picture. In my opinion, you would benefit from a chin implant or a sliding genioplasty and a rhinoplasty at the same operation. If you feel you need to have two separate  operations then I would recommend getting your nose done first. With better nasal contour, this may require a lesser chin surgery or obviate the need for chin surgery altogether.  Please seek consultation from board certified plastic surgeons or facial plastic surgeons for the most accurate recommendations.

Hello jmm124567,Thanks for your question.It seems unusual that your facial plastic surgeon chosen to perform rhinoplasty doesn't perform chin implant procedures as they often go together.  That being said, since you have set your mind on this particular rhinoplasty surgeon, it makes sense to find another surgeon to perform your chin implant.  While it is difficult to coordinate two surgeons, it is possible to have two surgeons operate on you the same day to have one recovery.Otherwise, there is no particular reason to order your procedures in any particular way.  Good luck,Dr. Shah

Based on your photo you would do best having both nose surgery and chin implant done in one surgery. It should not be that difficult to find surgeon who is experienced in both procedures? Why don't you seek a second consult by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon?If you still insist on  "one at the time approach" I would suggest chin surgery to be done first. Good luck.

Since these procedures are usually done at the same time and by the same surgeon to get the best harmony you are not going to find any scientific evidence as to which surgery should be done first. Having 2 surgeries by 2 separate surgeons will require 2 recoveries, would be more expensive and there could be a disconnect in the aesthetic goals of the 2 surgeons. I find out highly unusual that a qualified rhinoplasty surgeon does not do a genioplasty. Specially at your age and considering the shape of your chin a sliding osteotomy could be a better choice. 

When rhinoplasty and chin augmentation can not be done together, the biggest concern/deformity should be done first. Which bothers you the most should guide your decision. In looking at your one picture, your chin deficiency seems to be greater than that of the nose.

 It does not matter which  procedure comes performed first. It would be nice to perform both of these procedures together under one anesthetic with one recovery period.

If you did your nose first, and followed with the chin, you may get your tender nose banged up a bit during a chin implant procedure, especially if its done through an intra oral route.If you did your chin first, there is little likelihood that the chin would be  traumatized during a rhinoplasty. procedure.For this and other reasons listed by my colleagues below: Do the chin first.

I've never known an experienced rhinoplasty surgeon who would not do a chin implant. If you are willing to accept that I suggest you ask him to bring in another surgeon to do the chin implant at the same time so you have one operation, anesthetic, and recovery.

Dear jmmm124567, These procedures are done together as the nose and the chin need to be addressed simultaneously in order to provide proper balance to the patients overall facial aesthetics and profile. I do not know how a surgeon can be highly skilled in rhinoplasty and does not perform chin augmentation surgery. Hi, I have performed and taught Rhinoplasty for over 30 years and have performed many chin implant surgeries over that period of time.  I frequently perform both together.  Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face.  I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick and highly effective.  If you have to choose, I'd do the chin implant first as the Rhinoplasty wouldn't interfere with the chin implant, especially a couple of months later.Hope this helps.
