Dental work after dermal fillers? 6 days post-op.

Question

3/2/18 I had 3 syringes of Juvederm Voluma as well as 5 units of Botox injected into my chin. Now I have an appt on the 12th to see a dentist. I have a SUPERNUMERARY tooth on my lower anterior teeth between teeth 20/21. A portion of the tooth is visible to the naked eye dentist said only local anesthetic would be used. Should I wait or is it okay to have a tooth removed? I don’t want to risk getting infected.

Hi, thank you for your question. I would inform both your provider who has injected you and also your dentist of this recent procedure to make sure they both clear you to have dental work. I recommend waiting 10 days -2 weeks for my patients to have any type of dental work just to ensure that everything has healed properly and there is no room for manipulation of the product during dental work.

Sorry to hear about the dental problems and thank you for the question.  I usually like my patients to wait a full 2 weeks before dental work,  however,  as long as all the injection sites are well healed without signs of infection you are probably in good shape.  I would check with your PS to be sure,  he or she knows best,  and I would call the dentist to make sure this doesn't change their plan of care.  Best
