Hi and thank you for your question! The immunity/resistance to Botox and other medications in this family is relatively rare and reported in less than 5-6% of patients who have been getting these treatment for long time. We usually see a patient who has developed resistance to one type of medication (e.g. Botox) and we can still treat them effectively by switching to other medications in the family. It is quite rare to see a patient who is resistant to all 4 medications. Once the immunity is established, it is expected to last for long time, possibly several years so you might want to try small amount after a few years to see if it works or not. I hope it helps and good luck!
It is very rare to be immune to so many neurotoxins. If you have no results at all from any of them you may wish to wait a few years and then try again. In the meantime you can keep your skin looking fresh with Morpheus8 treatments. We also recommend using medical grade skin care products and wearing sunscreen every day.
i find that if one stops working it stops working forever, but you can always retry. I would suggest at home peels and rollers with in office lasers to help improve texture/wrinkles if botox neuromodulation work. Best, Dr. Emer.
Immunity to all types of neurotoxins is very rare. If in rare case that one is immune, you can switch to a different neurotoxin to test it out. Always work with a board certified medical practioner who is an expert in Botox injections for best results.
This is not a very well studied phenomenon. 1-3% of patients may develop antibodies towards the proteins in various neuromodulators. The general thought is that the immunity may last for 4-5 years.Dr. T
