Thank you for your question. Ideally, any sort of body shaping procedures should be performed once you have reached your goal weight or very close to it. These types of procedures are made to address stubborn areas of fat, not to achieve overall weight loss. For best results, I recommend you lose the weight you are trying to lose and then visit with a specialist plastic surgeon to find your best option for further shaping. Good luck!
CoolSculpting and all of the other permanent cosmetic fat-elimination techniques, such as Vanquish, Thermi and liposuction, are designed to be used only on stubborn pockets and bulges of fat that don't respond to diet and exercise. The ideal patient is either around his or her ideal weight or just slightly overweight. CoolSculpting will not help you with weight loss and therefore is not appropriate if you are obese. However, if you have extra bulges that you would like to smooth or eliminate, such as a double chin or bra fat, it may be possible to help you with CoolSculpting. Be sure to consult a board-certified dermatologist who has been certified by Zeltiq so you can find out if you are a candidate for spot-treating with CoolSculpting.
Thank you for your question. Coolsculpting is perfect for treating individuals who are at their ideal weight with pockets of stubborn fat. This may not give you your desired results. Please consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to determine the best course of treatment. Regards,
You would need to lose weight first before undergoing any cosmetic procedure to get the best outcome. For best results, it is recommended to be at your ideal or stable weight before getting a procedure like Coolsculpting. Coolsculpting is not a weight loss procedure, rather it is for removing problem areas that cannot be removed with weight loss and diet / exercise alone. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a bariatric doctor or dietitian. Best, Dr. Emer
CoolSculpting is a body contouring procedure and not a weight loss treatment. Those who are more than 10-15% over their ideal body weight are usually not candidates for the procedure.
CoolSculpting is a treatment ideally suited to individuals who are at or near ideal body weight who have isolated areas of unwanted fat. It is not meant to be a weight loss program. One issue with treating someone who is obese is that the entire body cannot be treated with CoolSculpting. I would recommend getting closer to an ideal body weight before being treated.
Coolsculpting is ideal for people at or near their goal weight. It does eliminate 20-25% of fat in the area treated but that area is quite limited...it does not eliminate 20-25% of your body fat. If you picture a stick of butter being treated and 25% of it is gone, you get an idea of what you can expect from Coolsculpting. For obese patients, seeing this much fat eliminated generally doesn't make a substantial enough difference. Think of Coolsculpting as fine tuning.
We have used CoolSculpting for several of our curvier clients with lovely results on their bra fat areas. Most have been content with their weight but wanted a smoother appearance. CoolSculpting has decreased the bulges and left a smoother silhouette for tees, tanks, or dresses. During the consultation we do advise that they plan for a repeat treatment in the same area 60-90 days post initial treatment. We have also treated lower ab rolls (or panniculus) with a decrease in fat volume but you should see a certified physician for an evaluation for the best treatment options.
Hi, CoolSculpt is meant to help with stubborn fat pockets rather than overall weight loss. Ideally, the patient is close to ideal body weight. Some of our larger patients have undergone bra fat or chin fat reduction with good results.
Thanks for great question, while optimally Coolsculpting is for those stubborn pockets AFTER someone is at or near their ideal weight. There are some patients that are not quite there and have gone ahead with Coolsculpting and got amazing results using the CoolAdvantage Plus applicator. It is meant for larger/thicker areas and helps get most motivated to keep losing weight with lifestyle changes and exercise. Goodluck in your consideration of Coolsculpting.
Thank you for your question. In my experience no one has ever had such a reaction to the treatment, it is likely unrelated. I suggest following up with your provider and visiting your doctor. Regards,
We recommend our patients take any anti-inflammatory over-the-counter medications (Advil and Aleve). These will help with inflammation in the fat cells and will provide pain relief.
If your CoolSculpting specialist used the older treatment applicator, the CoolMax (yellow applicator), you may experience swelling, numbness or other changes in sensation for 1-2 weeks or even longer. If the newer treatment applicator was used, the CoolAdvantage Plus treatment applicator,...
