A surgeon told me what I want isn't possible - is it true? (Photo)

Question

I reached out to a dr. who did a nose job on a photo i found on here and told him this is what i want.He responded that due to my nose & skin structures, not much can be done. I'm CRUSHED. I want this more than i've ever wanted anything in my life. What does he mean by this? Is it true? Am I doomed with this for the rest of my life? Am I not being realistic? What is realistic? I want a huge change like so many others here get.not a subtle change that ppl hardly notice.

While individual differences in skin texture and nasal anatomy mean that replicating the exact outcome from a photo might not be possible, significant improvements tailored to your unique characteristics are achievable. It's important to manage expectations, understanding that while the exact result may vary, a substantial and noticeable change is realistic. You're not doomed to your current nose shape for life, and aiming for a transformation that respects your distinct features is both realistic and attainable. Based on your photos, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. While you might not be able to get all the way to what your photo looks like, you can make a significant improvement in that direction. I would go to see a few more experienced rhinoplasty surgeons to see what they would say.

I think you are actually quite a good candidate for a rhinoplasty. Obviously this is dependent on a physical examination of the nose and completing a full history with a plastic surgeon. 
I recommend finding an American Board of Plastic Surgery Certified Plastic Surgeon; one with experience in rhinoplasty. This is a challenging thing to answer over the internet without a physical exam and in person discussion. There are not many patients who are NOT candidates for a procedure just from physical attributes of the nose.

You would definitely benefit from a rhinoplasty. Your dorsum is narrow however you do have a hump. You need the dorsum straightened. You need the nasolabial columella angle increased, you have too much columella show, your nose is too long and the tip needs to be refined. You can be remarkably improved but certainly there is no guarantee of outcomes.

Thank you for your question. I have no Idea why the other surgeon felt that he could not help you or improve your nose.  A large portion of my practice is dedicated to rhinoplasty and revision rhinoplasty.  You are actually an excellent candidate for rhinoplasty and should be able to have a beautiful nose. Your wish pictures are definitely reasonable. Seek out only plastic surgeons experienced in rhinoplasty surgery and critically evaluate their galleries. Best wishes to you.

Please make an appointment with a reputable rhinoplasty surgeon. You can definitely get a significant change with large hump reduction, correction of your hanging columella, refining your nasal tip, etc. Without a consult and an exam in person touching your nose it is impossible to get a true sense what can be done and if not quite like your desired photo, should be possible to get close to that!

Relax, you CAN have the nose you want.  Our process is to agree with patients on a sketch of the desired result before surgery.  That sketch is what we work from in the operating room, and it usually comes very close, sometimes even better than planned.  Keep shopping for a surgeon who is confident in his/her/their ability to help you.

Based on your photos, you appear to have a long and wide nasal appearance with a bulbous droopy tip and thin nasal skin. Thin nasal skin can be challenging for some surgeons, so please ensure that you consult with a reputable rhinoplasty specialist. Personally, I think that the model that you chose appears to be a bit overdone, however, I do believe that you could achieve a more feminine nasal profile appearance with a curve, and I believe that would satisfy your desire. Although dramatically changed, your goal photos are not out of the question. Although you would look exactly like that woman, your nose can have the features that you like with her nose: a straight dorsum from both the side and the front, a tight, non-drooping columella, tip definition and projection relative to nasal length, flatter nasal ala, and an overall less projecting and shorter nose.
