I have a keloid or scar tissue that is growing inside the both of my nostrils where the incisions were. It is still growing, and I am afraid that it will start affecting my breathing. (I already can hardly breathe after my rhinoplasty 1+year post op). With that being said, my surgeon will be removing the keloid/scar tissue, but mentioned that it may come back. Could I prevent this by putting silicone scar sheets inside my nostrils? Is it safe?

Scar tissue band scan form inside of the nose and caused blockage, and narrowing of the internal nasal valves. If surgical repair is indicated for this, I think that silicone splints may be placed to help prevent recurrence. Wishing you well. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph
Hi @marieRA, I am a facial plastic surgeon and rhinoplasty specialist. You would likely be a good candidate for a rhinoplasty and possible alar reduction. I recommend a consultation with a facial plastic surgeon who is a rhinoplasty specialist. Best of luck, Dr. Ghazizadeh
Believe it or not, blackheads in thick oily nasal skin can cause nasal tip swelling to be persistent. As long as there was no pain removing the blackheads, I doubt you did any damage. Thank you for your question, and I wish you a happy recovery. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph
