Can silicone scar sheets be added inside the nostrils after rhinoplasty?

I have a keloid or scar tissue that is growing inside the both of my nostrils where the incisions were. It is still growing, and I am afraid that it will start affecting my breathing. (I already can hardly breathe after my rhinoplasty 1+year post op). With that being said, my surgeon will be removing the keloid/scar tissue, but mentioned that it may come back. Could I prevent this by putting silicone scar sheets inside my nostrils? Is it safe?

That will not be a very practical or effective solution, in my experience. I would work closely with your surgeon to establish a plan for scar management ahead of time. This may include sequential steroid injections. I would also discuss with your surgeon about superficial radiation therapy. This generally requires you to see a radiation oncologist who performs this procedure ahead of time to plan for immediate treatment after excision by your surgeon. This may or may not be feasible depending upon where exactly the keloid is. Ultimately this will have to be determined with your treating surgeon.

I suspect that your concern may not indeed be a keloid scar. When it comes to keloid scarring, it's like real estate. Location location location. The base of the nose is a place that we have not seen keloid scarring before. If you would like clarity about this from the experts, please consider re-asking your question with photographs. Keloids inside the nose are rare. Ask your surgeon about steroid injections after the scar revision. It’s a more practical option

Placing silicone sheeting inside, your nostrils is going to be difficult and probably not very effective.
Careful use of injected, anti-inflammatory steroids can help control excessive scar hypertrophy after surgery or after scar revisions.
There are certainly drawbacks side effects to using steroid injections, and they should be used with great caution.
They can, however, control excessive scar formation, and is something that should be considered.
