How long does fat grafting last in the face?

Our patients love facial fat transfer for lasting restoration of volume loss. Once that fat is integrated into your facial tissues, it will live there indefinitely. This is one of the main differences to injectable fillers. The procedure is office based. Recovery for full face fat grafting is about a good week.

Thank you for your question. Fat transfer has the potential to last much longer than filler treatment, though its duration is more unpredictable. We typically inform our patients that 50% of the fat injected remains at one year out from a procedure. We recommend you seek an in-person consultation with a facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who can provide a thorough evaluation and discuss the best treatment options for restoring volume to your face. 

Hi, thanks for your question. If the fat is well integrated it will last forever. But you have to make sure that your condition is not an aging process (face flacidity), because if its the case you will need a Facelit.

Facial fat grafting is a nice way to enhance the appearance of someone with facial wasting. I tell patients that about 50-60% of the fat usually survives and they may want additional fat grafting sessions to reach their goal.
