I was born with a relatively "peanut face", but it is getting worse with age and my temples feel more and more sunken in. I want to stay away from fillers and Sculptra because they are too pricey for results that are not long term. If I wanted to get a fat graft, can someone give me a rough approximation of how much it will cost, and if I'm a good candidate? Other suggestions are appreciated
Answer: Fat Grafting to Temples Thanks for the questions. Fat grafting can be a good solution for restoring volume to the temples. Usually I have seen this in older patients who have lost volume due to fat atrophy over time. Fat grafting has the advantage of being a relatively straightforward procedure, done in the office, and it is your own tissues. The downside is that it will be more expensive than a single round of fillers, and it may take multiple rounds of grafting to get the result a patient desires. You may be a good candidate, but an in person exam is needed. Photos may not show the true extent of atrophy or lack of volume in a region. Pricing varies widely based on the physician performing it as well as the location. I often advise patients to 1. choose a qualified surgeon to do this procedure (not just any physician or PA who states they do it), and 2. do not let price be a determining factor. One place to not go cheap on is someone's own body! Best wishes, Rohit Jaiswal, MD Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Fat grafting to temples Fillers and fat can accomplish the same thing, adding volume. However fat not only provides volume, it also adds stem cells which have huge benefits for your skin and surrounding tissue. Discuss these with your plastic surgeon. With regards to cost, it may vary between practices. See a few doctors and compare. Questions to ask include what donor site is used, how the fat is prepared, and how it is injected under the skin. I wish you the best!

Answer: Cost of surgery Dear Dottyliu, the cost of surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, number of treated areas, anesthesia fee, surgeon, facility fee, city, etc.). Answer: Filler Facial fat transfer, also known as facial fat grafting or lipoinjection, is a cosmetic procedure that involves injecting fat into the face to restore volume and improve the appearance of the skin: How it worksFat is extracted from another part of the body, usually the abdomen, thighs, or buttocks, using liposuction. The fat is then purified and injected into areas of the face that need volume, such as the cheeks, under the eyes, or around the lips. BenefitsFacial fat transfer can help to: Fill in sunken cheeks and the eye area Reduce the appearance of line folds and scars Enhance lip size Improve overall skin quality AlternativesFacial fat transfer can be an alternative to a more invasive facelift. It can also be combined with other treatments, such as dermal fillers or Botox, to create a more sculpted look. RecoveryAfter the procedure, patients can expect 7–10 days of swelling and some mild bruising. PermanenceWhile facial fat transfer is considered a permanent intervention, only about 60% of the injected fat is retained.
