Hello ladies, Wanted to share my experience with the silicone lip removal lip reeduction for all those Ladies who lost hope. Today is Day 1 11/14/2024. Yesterday was my procedure. The doctor does it locally, they numb you and give you a few meds. When he puts the shots to numb you you might feel shaky for a bit but it goes away. His method is very good, I could tell Dr lam is very experienced with this process. One thing is before the surgery he tells you that “he will not dig out all the silicone” and that he will reduce the lips to what he thinks is good. My lips look smaller post swelling, but to soon to see the results. The worse is 1 hour procedure is done the lips are so sore, but I didn’t take any ped meds I just put ice with a cover on top o the lips and left it there and eventually started feeling better that on Day 1 I don’t feel the need to take pain meds. I will update you more giving forward. Thanks ladies and there is hope you just have to have the courage to get it done and make sure it’s someone professional who actually shows his work on multiple people.
Hi, as of today, I am two days post-op, having had my lip reduction done on 1/10/2024. I was born with pretty big lips and always wanted to get them reduced. I decided to track my day to day healing process in case anyone else was thinking of getting this procedure done and wondering what the recovery was like. So far I've only seen a couple of reviews in this style so hopefully this can be helpful to anyone thinking of going through with this procedure. --------- 1/10/2024: Day 0 Today was surgery day. I was honestly pretty nervous, but I figured that Dr. Lam had done hundreds, if not thousands, of these procedures, so I trusted him. You honestly don't get to spend much time with him, and he was pretty adamant on asking you to trust his vision. He wants to assure you that he can judge how much lip to take out. I trusted him, and when I saw my results immediately after surgery, I was very pleased. The procedure itself took an hour and was practically painless. In fact, it was less intense than some dentist appointments I've had. He gives you a couple pills to take beforehand and then you're numbed up and ready to go. All of his assistants are also super kind and warm, and they really help you feel at ease while the actual surgery is going on. After the surgery is done, he'll show you your results before the swelling sets in and I was very impressed! My lips looked amazing and I was extremely satisfied with my results. Later that day, I would feel some general soreness, but took Tylenol to deal with it. I wasn't prescribed any painkillers or steroids. Some older reviews mention being given a prescription of steroids to take after, but I wasn't given any. Maybe things changed in the 7ish years since those reviews mentioned it. --------- Day 1: 1/11/2024 Swelling started kicking in today. I just stayed in all day and tried to minimize swelling with some ice, but still, I could feel the swelling intensify. It was also super hard to eat. I think I just drank a bunch of protein shakes, and then some microwave mac and cheese. My lips were noticeably more swollen than yesterday. --------- Day 2: 1/12/2024 Even more swelling today. I had to fly back home, and my lips were extremely swollen today. I looked like a muppet or something. It's still super hard to eat food too. Additionally, the stitches are also getting super uncomfortable as they poke your mouth every time you close or move. It almost feels like your lips are extraordinarily dry and that the stitches are hard pieces of dead skin or something. I was also drooling a bit due to the intensifying swelling. Hopefully the swelling will decrease in the next two or so days. Allegedly, according to the post-op brief they give you, swelling peaks on days 3-4 so it looks like I've unfortunately got another couple days of swelling to do. Also, the centers of my lips are still numb, which is apparently normal according to that same post-op brief. Updated on 13 Jan 2024: A little more swelling today, mostly on my lower lip. I'm still experiencing numbness in the middle of the top and bottom. Some of the sutures are sticking out and sting a little when they poke you, but I presume it's not that serious. I'm mostly trying to control the swelling. Hopefully it'll decrease by tomorrow or the day after (preferably sooner because my lips are quite swollen). I'm also hoping that I'll be able to eat real food soon. Between the swelling, numbness, and stitches, it's quite hard to eat. I find myself drooling a lot when eating, as well as being unable to tell when food is on my lips due to the numbness. Apparently the numbness is supposed to last a few weeks, but I'm feeling some tingling, which I'll take as a good sign. I don't know if it's because the numbness is subsiding and the nerves are waking back up, or if it's because the sutures are starting to dissolve, but hopefully it's both. Anyways, hopefully tomorrow the swelling will go down and the numbness will decrease. Updated on 14 Jan 2024: Swelling is still present, although it hasn't increased luckily. My lips look about the same as they did yesterday so hopefully that's a good sign that the swelling will only improve from here on out. I'm still having the same numbness mostly in the center of my lips. Hoping that I'll make some more progress this week and really reduce the swelling. Updated on 16 Jan 2024: Swelling has begun to go down. I think it started yesterday going down yesterday, but I forgot to write about it. My lips are still quite numb, but after reading other reviews and checking with Dr. Lam's website, it seems to be pretty normal to be numb? Allegedly it can take anywhere between two weeks to even two months for the numbness to go away. My numbness is mostly on my bottom lip, on the left side, but there's still a good amount of numbness on my top lip, mostly in the middle. It'll probably vary between person to person. Additionally, I think some of my stitches are beginning to dissolve, which makes sense given that Dr. Lam said they'd dissolve between one to two weeks. His assistant said she'd never seen the stitches lasting longer than a week. I'll let you guys know how the next few days go. I'm hoping I can see the swelling dissipate even more within the next couple of days, and hopefully the numbness will resolve soon too. Updated on 17 Jan 2024: Officially one week after surgery now. The worst of the swelling is over, albeit my lips are still quite swollen. I can feel the sutures start to dissolve, and a good amount have started hanging out. I really want to trim the ones that are hanging, but was told not to so I'll just wait a little. My lips are still numb. It's kind of hard to smile, and I'm trying not to laugh or smile too much out of fear of breaking the sutures. Again, my main concerns are the numbness and swelling so hopefully they'll go down soon. Updated on 18 Jan 2024: The swelling has gone down by a lot. The worst of the recovery is over, but I've still got stitches in my mouth. I also noticed a few white bumps which seems to have happened to a few other people in the past so I presume it's nothing serious. I'm hopeful that the swelling will reduce even further and that my lips will continue to get smaller over the course of this week. Updated on 21 Jan 2024: Swelling is over by now. There's still some stitches as well as numbness, and a tightness when I smile, but I can pretty confidently say that the swelling is over and I'm close to looking at the final result. I really love my lips now! I probably won't be updating this as frequently anymore. I'm back to eating normal foods now. I'll probably stay away from crackers and chips, but otherwise I'm on a normal diet. If I update again, it'll probably be in a week or so because I think the day to day changes are over.
I cannot express how pleased I am with my result and experience. I am so happy to have my hairline back and my result looks natural. Dr. Lam, Dr. Emina, and staff exceeded my expectations. Drs. Lam and Emina are both incredibly intelligent and caring. All the nurses were very warm and focused on my comfort throughout the procedure. I sincerely appreciate being kept comfortable throughout the procedure; it made the day go by quickly and I was able to nap too. It was quite evident to me that Dr. Lam is a very moral person; he does not skimp on his procedures. He is very meticulous in how he cares for follicles after extraction which increases survival. He also utilizes PRP with transplant and provides superior aftercare products. I thoroughly believe this contributed to the wonderful results I have. Thank you again, Dr. Lam. I will post more photos of immediately post-op as well..................................
I received Botox on my forehead and around the corners of my eyes- completely painless process, quick, and looks phenomenal! Great experience and will be back. Highly recommend Dr. Lam for all facial and plastic surgery.
Dr. Lam will give you his straight honest opinion about what is best for you. He is straightforward and an excellent surgeon. I had a procedure to reduce fullness in my cheeks. With his procedure I had absolutely NO bruising or pain! He will suggest the least invasive, cost effective procedure first before doing anything more invasive to get desired results. Thank you, Dr. Lam!
I have had a couple of surgeries before. I had a lip lift and silicone removal from my lips as it was really bad. I got my upper lip like a triangle and very narrow in the corners. In my lower lip is the little hanging ad I show too much my lower teeth. I like big lips but I want the correct the middle part of my upper lip and keep rest the same just take out little bit center t make even and with better shape. I am going to Sam Lam who I read is great at doing lips. I will post my after surgery. very exciting!
After much research, I chose Dr. Lam for a revision rhinoplasty, as I had a rhinoplasty 7 years ago with less than desirable results-a cartilage graft had migrated to the tip of my nose, giving it a pointy appearance. I used to be very self-conscious of my nose and I would try all types of make-up tricks to hide the pointy tip, to no avail. Now, nearly a year out from my procedure, I can honestly say that I love my nose. It has both a natural and symmetrical appearance. Not only does it look better, but it also functions better. I used to have trouble breathing out of my left nostril, but he opened up the airway as part of the rhinoplasty. Overall, I am very pleased with the result and I highly recommend Dr. Lam to anyone considering a rhinoplasty.
Dr Lam was referred to me by a very close friend and surgeon. I am a plastic surgeon myself. I flew down to Dallas since I also had two friends undergo a hair transplant procedure with Dr Lam. I cannot express how fantastic he and his whole team are. His transplant procedure is cutting edge above any other practice. I had the procedure done yesterday and had a very easy evening and am excited about the result. I strongly encourage you if looking for a natural hairtransplant with Dr Lam.
I found Dr Lam through YouTube. I liked the way he focused on looking natural because my fear is for people to know that I’ve had work done. Dr. Lam prides himself on being able to spot when someone has had work done. I knew he wouldn't over fill my face and have me looking like a marshmallow. Two weeks ago I got 60 cc of fat removed from my inner thighs and 29 cc of that fat injected into my face. Currently I am very happy with the results but I know I still have swelling. I’ll try to update my review when I’ve reached one month. I’m not adding pictures because I don’t want people to know I’ve had any work done. I think Dr. Lam and his staff did a great job preparing me for the procedure. There is a ton of information on the website and I emailed several times with questions and they were quick to respond. If you are considering the procedure I’ve listed some pros and cons starting with the cons. CONS: The first week you will look awful. You will have swelling and bruises and you can see spots where the needle was injected. My mouth looked weird like i had removed my dentures. I didn’t leave the house much and when I did I wore dark shades to hide my eyes. Second, it’s expensive. I got fillers once and it cost 2-3k (for 3 syringes). This procedure was 8k. Third: it’s hard to get an appointment with Dr. Lam. Most of the doctors I called could get me in within a week or two for a consult. The wait for a consult with Dr Lam was over month. Luckily someone canceled and mine got moved up. PROS: The biggest pro is that it’s permanent. I don’t know how much of the fat will be absorbed by my body but I know that the fillers did't last very long. The shape of my face is changed. It’s subtle but i can see more roundness. My pointy chin especially seems more rounded My face is fuller, giving me a more youthful look. THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW: My phone would not recognize me. I have facial recognition on my iPhone and it took 10 days for the swelling to go down enough for my phone to recognize me. After the first week no one can tell i've had work done. It's like the movie "I feel pretty", everyone else sees the same person but when i look in the mirror see an attractive stranger. It's kind of surreal.
18 years ago I had silicone injected on my lip and overtime my lip became deformed. I decided to go with doctor Lam based on all the experience he has with lip reduction and reconstruction after lip injections gone bad. My flight came in at 8am and Kenny’s car service picked me up and dropped me off at the hotel. My appointment was for 2pm but was asked to be there 15 min prior. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I was given medication for swelling and bruising and also did a urine pregnancy test. Pictures from before the procedures were taken. The doctor came in and talked about the possible outcomes.what I should expect. I felt very comfortable. After that I was brought to the procedure room. I was them numbed with a block. It like a needle when you go to a seating. I did not feel it at all. After that he injected my lips with more numbing and I didn’t feel it since I was already numb from the block. He waited a few minutes and came back and numbed some more. The procedure was very quick. He had already drawn my lips out so when it came down to cutting it was very quick. He took his time with stitching to shape the lip nicely. He then showed the results I was please but question one area inside my mouth. He explained it will not be noticeable and he would not touch that area anymore because it will not look right. Once done I was given instructions on how to care for the lip. My driver kenny took me to the pharmacy to pickup my prescription and then to the hotel. I have not had any pain just a little pulling from the stitches. I’m pleased with ow they look today. I will post more picture once it has heeled. I will try to do a 6 week picture and a6 month picture. I want to also recommend Kenny as your driver if you decide to fly into Texas for Doctor Lam. Kenny was fenomenal. Updated on 6 Oct 2019: I’m very pleased with how well it has healed. My smile finally looks normal. It took maybe about a month and a half to have anormal smile.
In general, you never want to lose a single graft. In my experience losing 20 grafts is more than I typically have seen. However, if you had a relative large case like 2000-3000 for example, 20 grafts should have minimal impact unless they were all in one area close to one another or along one side of the hairline for example.
Yes, I see that there is relatively poor growth. This could be a technique issue or it may be partly attributed to the presence of the prior scar. However, I have had tremendously good success in transplanting around scars for a few reasons. My staff and I are very carefully in handling the grafts and designing the sites to be minimally damaging to the scalp. However, further, I truly truly believe that using quality PRP (we have 120 ml of blood that gets centrifuged down so very different than most PRP out there), ACell, HypoThermosol, and ATP have been pivotal to help hairs grow far better. Most physicians simply do not use these products. No amount of fertilizer (these products) can substitute for poor work but they are indispensable in my opinion and i do every case with them.
I think your careful attention is wonderful. However, grafts are quite durable when placed so long as they are not soaked in dirty water for prolonged periods or rough handled. If someone is going to be in the sun, I tell my patients to consider wearing a hat as a good protection from solar rays. But I always caution patients who are immediately after a procedure by another surgeon to follow that surgeon's advice.
I perform a lip reduction about every other day and have performed probably thousands over the past 20 years. I can do it completely awake with zero pain and I have developed a very safe and accurate way of doing it.
