I’m 30 years old and I had a child in May 2018. The pregnancy destroyed my petite and cute figure. I’m 4’10 around 125-130lbs (I was 95-100lbs pre pregnancy). I had a cesarean. My OB/GYN informed me that she corrected what she could, but wasn’t able to reach and repair the upper part of my abdomen. I feel like I still look a little pregnant and I’m so self conscious about it. Hate it actually because my stomach won’t change no matter what I do! I’d like a full or extended tummy tuck.
Answer: Muscle repair in tummy tuck / abdominoplasty surgery Thank you for your question. Repair of rectus separation is a routine component of a tummy tuck / abdominoplasty if it is present. By repairing the gap we are able to improve the resting position of the muscles, which often leads to an improvement in both your waist line and any protrusion you may currently have. Every patient's results are different so it is worth being assessed by an appropriately qualified plastic surgeon to see what you may require and what result you could expect to achieve. Best of luck moving forward. Kind regards, Matthew

Answer: Procedure recommendation Thank you for your question! Diastasis recti can be repaired with a mini tummy tuck, full tummy tuck, and extended tummy tuck. However, it is difficult to decide what procedure is best for you without photos. I recommend consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon, who can assess you in person and create a personalized plan for you. Best of luck!

Answer: Can Diastasis recti be repaired as part of a mommy makeover? If so, is a regular tummy tuck or extended tummy tuck best? Hello and thank you for your question. It would be useful to see some photos for a better evaluation. Muscle repair is a standard part of regular tummy tuck. In terms of regular or extended, unfortunately I cannot give you a specific answer without seeing photos. I would seek consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon for a full evaluation and advice. Best wishes and good luck, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: Tummy tuck for loose skin A mommy makeover is one or more procedures that restore a woman’s body after having children, and these procedures are customized based on the individual patient. Therefore, if diastasis recti is an issue for you, then repair can be performed during your mommy makeover. A full tummy tuck would target the area above your belly button, where your previous surgery was unable to target.
