I work night shift as a nurse and was wondering exactly how much time should I be requesting off if I plan to do a mommy makeover? And is my employer entitled to know about this or can I keep it under radar?
Answer: Mommy Makeover Hello, A mommy makeover can consist of many combinations of surgeries. A general rule is to take no less than 2 weeks. If you are having a Tummy tuck I would recommend at least 3 since you mentioned you are a nurse. Nurses work hard and are constantly thrown into unknown physical situations. So unless you can guarantee to go back to work on light duty after the 2 weeks if needed, it's best to plan for a little longer. BBL patients are not to sit on their buttocks for at least 4 weeks... You could still sit but with a stool beneath your thighs. Your employer is not entitled to know what procedure or why...HIPPA violation. They may need to know about physical limitations if you need light or limited duty when returning to work. As always, go for in person consultations with Board Certified Plastic Surgeons in your area to decide what would be best for you. Hope this helps. Answer: MMO Time Off Hello! A Mommy Makeover is a combination of procedures based on your needs. Most involve the breasts and abdomen but can be combined with almost anything. Your healing and downtime really depend on the mix of procedures you have done. For most MMO patients who are healthy, I recommend 2 weeks off of work if it is a sedentary job. If you have a physical job that requires lifting, straining or prolonged time on your feet, you will be restricted from some of your job duties longer. Your employer does not need to know what procedure you had done but a doctor’s note that included your limitations would be beneficial. You may need a ‘light duty’ restriction for 4-8 weeks. As always, I advise patients to choose a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in aesthetic procedures and who you truly trust and connect with. Best of luck! Dr. Lucie Capek

Answer: How much time should I request off work for a mommy makeover? Hello and thank you for your question and sharing your photos. I would allow 1-2 weeks of recovery time before going back to work. I let my patients start light activities at 3 weeks and full activities (exercise, lifting, etc) at 6 weeks. You should be able to go back to work 1-2 weeks post op, as long as you stay on light duty with no lifting for 6 weeks post op. Your employer is not entitled to know about your surgery. Best wishes and good luck, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained double board-certified plastic surgeon

Answer: Recovery time for mommy makeover Thank you for your question. Every patient heals differently. After mommy makeover surgery, patients may require anywhere between 2-6 weeks off, depending on the nature of their work. Employers may need to know about expected time off work and modified duties due to surgical recovery time; however, in our area, patient privacy laws restrict doctors from divulging the specific surgery unless granted permission by the patient. @yorkplasticsurgery

Answer: Recovery after Mommy Makeover The recovery period for a Mommy Makeover is entirely dependent on what procedures are performed. Although, the Mommy Makeover significantly shortens the recovery time for multiple procedures, the recovery time is still extensive and should not be underestimated. If you are considering a mommy makeover you need to be prepared for a considerable amount of surgery and an extensive recovery period. Although you might be feeling substantially better at 2-3 weeks, it is not uncommon to need anywhere from 4-6 weeks. You'll need to avoid heavy lifting if you have breast surgery, and possibly using core muscles and twisting if you have had the tummy tuck (which might be difficult to avoid if you are a nurse). I highly recommend that you book an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in order to discuss any concerns that you might have. That said, it's really important to follow any post-op guidelines recommended by your surgeon. It's also really important to allow your body to fully recover following the mommy makeover as this will ensure that you achieve the results that you were looking for.
