I started to get a rash along the top of my chest and tops of my shoulders. I took pictures, stopped all meds and started to take Benadryl. I sent the pics to the doctors and asked for advise. Haven't heard back and its gotten worse. ARGGGG! And these pictures do not show the real look and feel....so irritated! They are little red and white pimples/bumps. They pop when squeezed.

This could be an allergic reaction to some of your medications, antibacterial soap, or contact dermatitis among other culprits.   Your approach to the issue is reasonable but you need to obtain approval from your PS as the Benadryl can make you drowsy and should not be taken in combination with some other medications your PS might have prescribed for you.   Your PS needs to see you so keep calling his office for an appointment or an opportunity to speak with him.

Hello and thank you for your question and sharing your photos. You seem to have developed some sort of allergic reaction to a medication or maybe the antiseptic solution that was used during the surgery. These reactions are typically self-resolving, as long as you are not exposed to the offending agent anymore. Benadryl can be helpful. Thank you for sharing your question and I am sorry to see your rash development.  I would either drive over to your surgeon's office or seek out additional medical help.  This rash could be due to medications, the solution used to cleanse your skin for surgery, dressings, adhesives, garments, etc.  You are right to discontinue your medications, use a mild soap to cleanse the area, and continue to use Benadryl to help calm the response.  You may require a topical steroid cream or oral steroids to have it fully resolve, especially if worsening.  Hope this helps.

momyof4 So sorry you’re having these issues. Be certain that you let your operating surgeon know that you need to speak as soon as possible as this can be considered an emergency. In the meantime you seem to have done everything right, stopping all medications and taking Benadryl. You may be allergic to the fabric from the elastic garment given to you, and I recommend that you remove that as well. You can also try purchasing over the counter Steroid cream and rub into the areas of itchiness and irritation. I would also recommend seeing a board-certified dermatologist ASAP. Good luck.

I'm sorry to hear about the rash you have developed.  From your description it seems you have done all the correct things.  You need to speak to your surgeon.  I would continue to call and ask for an appointment.  If you do not hear back I would contact your PCP.
