I am 56 yrs old and had a TT, BR, with Lipo to Flanks, and inner and outer thigh areas the first week of May 2016. I will be 5 weeks post Tuesday June 7th. I have had an excessive amount of hair loss, and when I say excessive I mean handfuls after I brush it and shower especially. I have very thick hair or at least I use to, until this surgery. Is this a common, or should I be concerned?

Answer: Hair Loss After Mommy Makeover Hair loss after surgery is a rare but not unheard of occurrence. Suggested causes are the stress from having surgery to a reaction to the anesthesia. It appears that most cases respond over time with regrowth of the hair. A consultation with a hair loss specialist can speed recovery. The first step is to call your plastic surgeon and develop a treatment plan.

Answer: Excessive hair loss post-op This problem is not linked to the surgery per se but more to the stress of surgery and what it does to your body. Surgery can cause fluctuations in your hormones and given your age, this could certainly be the case. I would think this would be temporary but keep in mind that if hair follicles go into their resting phase, it can take 3 months before they come out of it. I would suggest you try to eat well, get an appropriate amount of sleep and be active (e.g walking). I think this problem will resolve with time.
