Swelling can last 3-6 months but your scar will improve over a year. Be patient. Hope this helpsJosh Olson MD
Hello and thank you for using RealSelf.com.I think all physicians would agree that it takes minimum of 6 months and sometimes up to one year to see the final results of your operation. Especially a tummy tuck where so many layers of tissue need to heal and become 'normal' again. During the healing time, I wholeheartedly recommend starting and continuing a healthy diet (no sugar, refined carbs or processed foods) and exercise including weight training and cardio workouts. These will not only help you heal better but also give you even better results.Dr Spies
Usually, patients will see the final result of a tummy tuck procedure from 6 months to a year. There are many factors that can affect the recovery time and healing. You will see a dramatic improvement immediately, but of course should expect some swelling for a few weeks to months. Most plastic surgeons recommend an abdominal binder or compressive garment to help minimize the postoperative swelling.Furthermore the results can be enhanced with an exercise regimen.
Congratulations on your tummy tuck and your liposuction. In my opinion, it takes about three months for the final result to reveal itself. Until then best wishes.
Thanks so much for your question. It depends on the amount of liposuction. More liposuction means more swelling and longer time for final results, but 6 months is safe to say for final results.
The final results of a tummy tuck and liposuction are most often seen at about a year after your procedures.
It takes 3-6 months to see final shape. It takes 1-2 years to see final scar appearance in most cases. I hope this helps.Dr. Ali Mosharrafa
I believe it can take up to one year after surgery to see the final results. You will notice improvement immediately after surgery and start to see swelling resolve by 6 weeks postop..
Thanks for your question.Immediately following the tummy tuck and liposuction, you should notice that you do not have excess lower abdominal skin and fat. However, you will experience swelling (edema) of the body especially your surgical area soon after the surgery. Although a majority of swelling decreases within 6 weeks, the final result of tummy tuck and liposuction may take up to 6 months. Please follow up with your plastic surgeon closely so that he/she can monitor your progress.Best regards.
Dramatic changes from liposuction can normally be seen in about 6 weeks after the procedure with final swelling gone 3 to 6 months after surgery.Following a tummy tuck the change in the skin and flatness of your stomach wall is immediately evident with scar maturation taking approximately 9 to 12 months. Most patients recommence physical activity after 6 weeks and have no restrictions after 3 months.Best wishes and good luck with your procedure.Jon A Perlman M.D., FACSDiplomate, American Board of Plastic SurgeryExtreme Makeover ABC-TV Plastic SurgeonBeverly Hills California
Dear choclatelauraYour safety and newborn's well being take precedence over any aesthetic concern. In case your OB recommends a C-section, it can be done through your TT incision. Otherwise, there are no other general medical concerns.
Thanks so much for your question. It is safe and very easy to remove your sutures as this point. Unfortunately it means you will need a surgery but the scar tissue is the strength holding things together at this point, not the sutures.
In my opinion, with abdominoplasty drainage lasting this long you would probably have what we call a pseudo-bursa. This means that the cavity from which the fluid is coming from has matured in such a way that it will never close off. If you are my patient, I would recommend at this point that we...
