I am 66 years old and have wanted to do this for the last 30 years . I always put something else or someone first before taking care of this very embarrassing self conscious problem! I am scheduled for Feb 21, 2018! I can do this!would love to be a C! I worry Because I am 5 foot two and weigh 176 pounds I’m trying to lose some weight in this next 30 days because I know my stomach’s going to look horrible once I have small boobs. My doctor didn’t have a problem with it she said I will feel better and be more inspired to exercise after I get rid of my very large breast. Updated on 28 Jan 2018: I m tying to get everything together for my surgery in three weeks.Does anyone have a list of most needed items? Thanks Updated on 5 Feb 2018: I have been cleaned by my PC physician for my upcoming BR. Yeah! Counting the days til Feb 21. I think I’m going to call this week and make an appointment with my surgeon. I have several questions that I think I will be more comfortable asking before surgery and not under Anesthesia after surgery. My husband will be with me and I mean no disrespect but he doesn’t always listen and understand directions if it doesn’t personally concern him ( lol) so I want to know a little bit more about what the plan is for after surgery. She explained the Procedure quite well the day of my initial exam with her but I was so nervous and thought I was going to go to the surgeons office be examined and then it would all have to be approved through my Medicare . I was so shocked the day of my exam with her she said I absolutely qualified and got me scheduled that day for February 21 so I was a little bit shocked ,nervous and excited. I have done some shopping and purchased stool softeners ,gauze ,tape a big pillow ,sport bras and antibiotic cream, bio oil etc . I’m sure there will be more things I need but I thought I would at least start stocking up. Updated on 8 Feb 2018: Made an appointment to see my surgeon today just to go over a few questions I had. I feel so much better now that I’ve talk to her once again. I think the day I was in the office for my Initial exam I was nervous and just surprised that she scheduled me that day to have my surgery February 21.She said she uses dissolvable sutures on the inside and will stitch on the outside as well as Steri-Strips. she will put me in a surgical bra at the hospital and see me the next day in her office to check the breast for any signs of infection. She put my mind at ease telling me I would have a one-day ,one week , three-week and six week follow up .She also stated For me to feel free to call any time , it was my surgery and my breast and she will be there to answer any questions or concerns that I have. She gave me special soap to wash with the night before and day of surgery. I have had trouble with anesthesia on two other occasions and she ordered a patch for me to wear behind my ear that will help with the nausea as well as we will ask the anesthesiologist to give me some medicine through my IV. I told her I really don’t want be any larger than a “C” cup after going thru all this. She doesn’t feel that Will be a problem. Yeahhhhh the countdown is on for smaller boops! Updated on 19 Feb 2018: I just want to thank all of my real self friends for all their information that has helped me understand more about breast reduction surgery and also to help me understand the good and the bad that we can experience from this journey. I am Posting three pictures today of two bras I HOPE I will fit in after my surgery and to have pictures to compare of just how big I am . The other one is my favorite bra and I’m wearing it on my face I just cracked up thinking my boobs are the size of my head ! Can’t wait to get this over! I will post after BR on Wednesday Updated on 22 Feb 2018: Tuesday, long story short I had not heard from the hospital what time to be there . I called the surgical center and they did not have me on their schedule .I could not believe it ,I was so upset . I called the doctors office couldn’t get through so I called the hospital again they told me my insurance hadn’t been pre-certified well I have Medicare and the doctor did everything she needed to do so I was beginning to think the scheduler at the hospital made it an error. I had resolved to the fact that I would not be having my breast reduction Wednesday . I really Don’t know what happened other than someone at he Doctor office or Hospital made a mistake. Around 330 Tuesday afternoon the doctor herself called me to apologize that it happened and that she would call the hospital and get me on the schedule if I still wanted to do that particular day . I was pretty stressed over The hold ordeal. The doctor was putting me on the schedule as an Add- on and I absolutely was ready! Surgery was 3 and 1/2. hours. Told them of all my problems with being sick from the anesthesia two times before and They really loaded me up with medicine in my IV plus a patch behind my ear for nausea /vomiting. I came home around 430 yesterday afternoon , Unfortunately I went to sleep when I got home and didn’t wake up until midnight. I tried my best to sleep more than that but I couldn’t so I have now been up since then but since I’m supposed to rest maybe I can sleep today when I get tired. The doctor told my husband that she removed 4 1/2 pounds total and that I did Great. I will post pictures later today . . . Can’t really tell much yet because I have an ace wrap all around my chest but I go see the doctor today she will take that off and put my surgical bra on. My husband Said the Dr . Updated on 22 Feb 2018: This is day one after my breast reduction and I couldn’t be more pleased.I am of course very swollen and bruised but I have had hardly no pain at all I’m only taking ibuprofen did not even take my pain medicine went to the doctor at one today to get 24 hour checked she took my ace wrap off and I’m in one of my sports bras now I’m hoping for a size C but the doctor told she got me a small as she could without doing a nipple graft and I did not want that . She said she doesn’t prefer to do graft because you always risk not having blood supply go to your nipples afterwards, so we agreed on just making me a small she could. Pretty swollen so I know it will go down from here some. I’m very happy with this decision already I carried those big H cups around for a long long time. I know it’s going to be hard for me to sit still not do anything because I feel so good that I promise that I will take good care of myself and give myself time to heal. I see the Dr next week again. Updated on 25 Feb 2018: I know I read this on someone’s review but I have two small blisters right on the tape line of one breast. The fluid is almost orange. I’m thinking it is from the tape. Anyone had this? It’s been four day since BR. No pain Updated on 27 Feb 2018: Updated on 22 Mar 2018: Over all I can say that I am very pleased with my new breast. I do wish they were smaller but I understand from my surgeon that she took everything that she could. I don’t know what size I am I am guessing I will be a D . One breast is larger than the other and the nipples are not even I know it is still early and I am hoping that that will change. The biggest problem that I have is my breast are just so sore but I’m sure that’s just the healing from the inside out they are very hard at the end of the day which is swelling I have taken both Arnica and Bromelain to help itch swelling
I hated seeing my double chin in photos, especially side profile. I wanted to have this done now and enjoy the profile while I am still young. I am so happy with the results. I trusted Dr Perlman to make the results look natural as he did with my breast implants eight years ago. Dr. Perlman is such a master at creating a younger, yet still natural look. His staff is top notch. It was a tough decision for me to do a procedure that was elective, but I have no regrets and I am so happy that I had this done.
An Amazing experience from day 1. Grateful for Dr. Perlman' s expertise, bedside manner, skill and staff. Through the years I have contemplated plastic surgery and I have had a few consultations. Each time Leaving offices feeling no connection or concern for my /questions /hopes ...not the case with Dr. Perlman thank you for an amazing experience and fantastic results
I had a capsulectomy/ Breast Augumentation done by Dr. Perlman, August 18, 2017. I'm very pleased with the results. Dr. Perlman has a spirit of excellence. He is an excellent and outstanding surgeon. He is radiant, humble, patient, very kind, caring, very attentive, a good listener, and very informative. Dr. Perlman, his assistant Elsie, his anesthesiologist, and all his surgery team worked well together. They are all magnificent. I'm very grateful and blessed that Dr. Perlman did my surgery. My breast are beautiful. I'm so happy, well done :)
Dr. Perlman is a wonderful and truly talented doctor. He is thorough and very patient explaining what will happen and answering all my questions. He does not rush you through but is truly concerned about making sure you are comfortable. He is the only doctor I trust completely. I drive over two hours to see him every four months for my fillers and botox. Dr. Perlman is amazing in what he does . The staff and Elsie who is Dr. Perlman's assistant are very welcoming and upbeat they always make me feel very comfortable. Dr. Perlman is amazing in his craft, I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a caring , gentle and great results doctor.
I first met dr. Perlman 20 years ago and had such an amazing experience, I knew he would always be my number one surgeon. He is truly a one of a kind Doctor. Besides being a brilliant surgeon, he is a kind, compassionate, and genuinely caring man. I have never felt rushed through any appointment, but instead, always greeted with a smile and treated with respect. I would highly recommend him.
Dr. Perlman and his staff were amazing. He made my procedure an easy and stress free experience! He answered all of my questions and made me feel completely comfortable going into my surgery. My anesthesiologist was very gentle and walked me through step by step which was really comforting. She even called me the day before to prepare me for my surgery the following day. I was nervous about my recovery after and scared that I'd be in a lot of pain! To my surprise I felt pretty good afterwards, I was able to move my arms and didn't have much bruising either. My recovery was a breeze! Dr. Perlman called and checked on me the next day to make sure I was doing ok! Over all an amazing experience.
My experience with Dr. Perlman has been amazing. From my first consultation, to my procedure, and my follow ups, the doctor and everyone in his office has been incredibly patient, professional, informative and most importantly, KIND. I have always been healthy and active. However, as I've gotten older I found that I was starting to gain a thickness in what I believed was my abdominal region. This was extremely frustrating for me. I had a consultation with Dr. Perlman. He informed me that my abs were fine but I had some extra fat forming in my thighs (specifically on the sides and the back region). Dr Perlman stated that he could contour just a little in these problem areas. It would give my legs a longer, leaner look and my body would have better lines and proportions. I elected to have the liposuction on my legs. He only removed about 600cc's. Immediately after my surgery, I saw what the doctor was talking about in his consultation. The problem was never in my abdomen. A month after my surgery, my legs are definitely more toned and look longer and leaner. My butt also looks perkier and lifted. Even though there is still a small amount of swelling (which will go away in the next few weeks to months) I can tell that there is a vast improvement in overall appearance. A month after my procedure, we did a weigh in at the doctor's office and I have already lost a little over 4 lbs. This is without the benefit of exercise. I have not worked out during my recovery period. However, because I no longer have the stubborn layer of fat on my thighs, I think my body is able to function with more efficiency. With just a small adjustment (600cc's) to my body, Dr. Perlman has impacted my life in such a dramatic way. I am looking forward to resuming my regular workout routine. I think that the changes will be even more stunning in the weeks and months to come. We all want to look our best and sometimes we need a little assistance to get the results we desire. But, not every plastic surgeon has the knowledge or expertise to help us reach our goals. If you want to look better and feel better, I strongly suggest that you go see Dr. Perlman for a consultation. You will be glad you did!
I have been a patient of Dr. Perlman for years. I get botox and lip fillers on a regular basis and the results are great. The look is very natural and people never think I have had anything done. That is how is supposed to be :) Dr. Perlman is honest and gives great recommendations for what to do or not. He will tell you if what you are asking will have a good result or not, and he will even dissuade you from doing unnecessary procedures. You never feel that he is trying to upsell you. I had an unfortunate experience with another Dr. that created a defect that needed surgical repair. Dr. Perlman came to the rescue and I could not be happier with the repair. He is a great surgeon and his entire team makes you feel very comfortable. Recently I tried the iLipo laser that he has and in only 4 treatments I can see a difference, with no surgery! I have referred several friends to Dr. Perlman and they all love him. His prices are very fair as well and he is always on time with his appointments
I had my thyroid removed in my mid 40's. The surgery was successful but i was left with a "hole" in my neck that became worse with age. I am from Canada. I researched many plastic surgeons here and in the United States. I did not want to look "younger". I simply wanted my neck to match my age and face. I contacted Dr. Jon Perlman based on personal recommendations and felt an instant connection. I sent him photos of my neck and explained the result I was looking for. Based on my photos, he suggested I consider a lower face lift. Thats how bad my entire lower face looked! I told him my lower face aging did not bother me because it seemed age appropriate. My only concern was my neck. He was not trying to up sell me! He was simply trying to make sure I got the best result possible. When we met at his office, Dr. Perlman agreed a neck lift was a good option for me based on my desired outcome. I left his office with total confidence. A confidence that carried me into the operating room and through the recovery process. He is such a professional. I asked Dr. Perlman if I could return home early and have the stitches removed in Canada. He said in his kind gentle way , "Absolutely not" ... "If I put the stitches in…"I take the stitches out." I had to stay in Beverly Hills an extra week but it was so worth it. I am ecstatic with the results. I was so afraid of plastic surgery. I am not anymore, at least not in the hands of such a master! Dr. Perlman may be more expensive than his peers but he is worth every extra penny. Trust me.
I find that the best method is to discuss your goals and options with your ABPS Bd Certified plastic surgeon and then allow him/her to make the final implant selection based on the intraoperative appearance of your breasts with temporary implants called sizers.I feel that it is very important to have your surgeon take responsibility for the final implant selection based on your goals, goal photos, and the actual appearance of your breasts during surgery when "sizers" or test implants are positioned with you asleep but in a semi-upright position. I believe that seeing the actual results using different volumes gives your surgeon important aesthetic flexibility and accuracy in matching your goals rather than placing the burden of decision on you based on stuffing a bra, etc.... Show your surgeon your goal photos and allow him/her to achieve as close to your ideal size and shape as possible. Both too large and too small an implant may give you a less than aesthetic result if not matched properly to your anatomy and tissue characteristics. As you can tell from the varied responses, each surgeon will have his/her opinion as to the ideal procedure. Though a vertical lift may suffice I feel that there is greater potential with a short horizontal incision in addition to the vertical lift especially if combined with the placement of absorbable mesh to provide internal support. The mesh is replaced by your own collagen and has a low incidence of complications. Good luck in your decision making and best wishes,Jon A Perlman MD FACS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, ASAPS, ASPS Extreme Makeover Surgeon, ABC TV Best of Los Angeles Award 2015, 2016 Beverly Hills, Ca
The simple answer is that they cannot reposition your breasts. They should make your breasts look better with the added fullness and a periareolar mastopexy can narrow your nipple diameters for further enhancement (at the price of an incision line). Discuss these options with your ps so you can make the best choice for yourself. Regards,Jon A. Perlman, M.D., FACSBeverly Hills, CA
To get very large droopy breasts an implant of that size is a good (but not smart) choice. I'd strongly recommend against that and instead be thinking of a full uplift with implants ROUGHLY in a 400-450 cc range. I choose implants during the surgery rather than before so I'd have a range of sizes available to attempt to best match your goals. Again, avoid those large sizes if you wish to be happy over the long term. Though it is possible I would recommend against it. You're young and your surgery was probably recent however with subglandular implants and a large implant there are negative effects/risks that become likely with large implants. Please watch the attached video and remember many photos that you see online are relatively soon after surgery and don't reflect changes that occur 1-5 years later as implants drop and breast tissue and skin stretch and thin.
