How heavy can my luggage be after a TT and BBL and how long can I carry it?

I am scheduled to have a TT and BBL with lipo. Is it okay if I have a piece of luggage that I check in about 45 lbs? My shoulder bag will be about 15lbs. Will it be okay for me to carry?

Hello, Thank you for your question. At my practice, I typically recommend patients not to lift more than 10 pounds for the first 6 weeks. After 6 weeks, typically patients are asked to gradually increasing the weight. I'd recommend speaking with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to determine what their lifting restrictions and recommendations are.All the best.

Specific instruction should come from your own surgeon. I asked patients not to do any exercises that target the abdominal muscles for six weeks after the operation. Lifting a suitcase with one hand would be permitted as soon as comfortable.

Absolutely not! I don't permit my patients to lift their babies, let alone luggage. There is no conceivable reason for you to do this and it is misguided.

You should certainly ask your plastic surgeon for postoperative lifting restrictions. In my practice, I counsel patients not to lift anything heavier than 10 pounds for 6 weeks. No abdominal or core strengthening exercises for 3 months in the gym. After 6 weeks, you can begin to lift heavier items once your body can tolerate it.Best wishes,Dr. Ravi Somayazula
