will a tummy tuck make my current hemorrhoids any worse than what they are now ?

Hi CalelCadenExcellent question.TT is a large and painful procedure that requires narcotics.  Narcotics, including Codeine, are consitpating, and constipation may lead to hemorrhoids.  I always educate my patients on ways to avoid constipation after surgery, but even with the best efforts, constipation can occur.Therefore, you have to take your chances here, and decide for yourself.  On the other hand, there are surgical corrections for hemorrhoids, and if they are symptomatic, you may be a candidate for treatment.Best of luck.Se

Tummy tuck will be fine in your case. There are alternatives to codeine.  Early ambulation, hydration and dietary modifications should minimize risk of constipation and any negative effect on hemorrhoids.
