Can one simply cut cartilage in tip of nose? What would the cost be?

Sorry if my knowledge is lacking, I definitely don't know much about rhinoplasty. My nose tip is wide due to what I call "winged" cartilage that juts out like airplane wings to each side. I like my nose other than the tip, and simply wish to slim the top by cutting the excess "wings". Can this be done and what would the aproximate cost be? Thank you very much!

It is always better to see photos or for you to go in for a consultation, but wide cartilage of the nasal tip can usually be reshaped or trimmed to create a thinner tip. It is important to see a rhinoplasty specialist for consultation because you don't want to simply cut the wings off - that could lead to other problems.

The excess wings are the lower lateral cartilages and to trim them is called 'Tip-plasty'. Think of it as only part of rhinoplasty. In this case your recovery is quick and cost is less as well. A tip rhinoplasty is less involved than a comprehensive rhinoplasty involving the nasal dorsum. Some cartilage may need to be harvested from the septum to obtain a strut graft to give the tip support.  Suturing the cartilages together as well as narrowing them should refine your tip nicely.  You can call several offices for estimates but usually they will need a consultation to let you know the price.
