Will I see a difference with 1/2 ml of Juvederm in my lips?

It depends on what your expectations are. Remember that these things cannot be done cheaply. You need the right amount of product to see results.

You will see a difference, but it will depend on the final results you want to achieve. I prefer to use a micro cannula to inject the lips to prevent bruising. Look for a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is an expert in fillers.

For a first timer, starting low and slow is my preference, since whether it is Botox or filler, you can always add more later if you want more, and this way you don't overdo anything or overpay. I think 1/2 syringe of Juvederm for your upper lip only would be a great starting point. In 2 weeks, if you feel its not enough, then consider adding more. Much more important than the choice and amount of filler is the choice of an expert physician injector such as a dermatologist to optimize safety and to give the best, natural looking and symmetric results possible.

YES!!    First suggest the injector harmonically rebalance the lips so the upper is a bit larger, so that the lower lip will look about 50 to 70 % larger than the upper. Presently the lower lip looks about twice the size of the upper lip........upper lip deserves some filler to make it larger but not quite as large as the lower lip. When this is done, it then is just a decision on size. Add more filler to upper AND lower lips to the size you want, keeping the new reballancing relationships you just created at the start of the filler treatment.

Your idea of using only 1/2 ml in your lips is excellent. Start slowly, you may always add more. This is the only way to maintain natural look. If properly injected to evert and lift your lip, 1/2 ml can do wonders. Not every injector wants to inject only 1/2 ml ; there are however, many that will. Good luck!

You may notice a difference with 0.5ml but it will be a conservative change.  Most patients begin with 1ml.  The wonderful thing about fillers though is that you can start slowly and add more product as you desire.  Keep in mind that swelling is common with lip injections and it can take up to two weeks to see your final results.

We often use a half syringe of filler for patients who are looking for a very modest change in the lips. Best thing to do is talk with your doctor to make sure you are both on the same page. Usually I recommend getting the whole syringe if you aren't sure, and if you don't use all of it then it's not the end of the world. Hope this helps!
