Have I massaged my lip injections away?

Question

Earlier today I had 1ml of Juvederm injected into my lips for the first time and immediately after they felt and looked a bit uneven and not symmetrical so I copied what the Dr did and started massaging all the uneven bits. Now it looks like I haven't even had anything injected at all, have I gotten rid of it all and wasted my money by massaging them too much? Would they have evened out and become more symmetrical eventually on their own?

It's unlikely you massaged away all of your filler. However, you can have swelling, which can be asymmetrical, and last 1-2 weeks after lip injections. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase and try a different technique next time. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

While it is unlikely you have massaged the Juvederm away, I never recommend that any significant massage be done around the time of injections as it can lead to asymmetry.  Good luck and in a few weeks it will be more apparent if you need adjustments.

It is unlikely that you have massaged all the filler away.  You most likely have some swelling of the area which can distort the look.  It can take up to two weeks to see your final result.  If at that time you still have concerns, return to your injector for an evaluation.

I don't think you've made the the filler go away by massaging your lips. You may have kept the swelling from occurring to a much greater degree and you may have displaced some of the filler but I'm confident you'll be just fine. Good luck from New York City

Probably not. The product is pretty cohesive and usually stays where it is put.While there is no data to tell us how long it takes before it can not be moved easily, it is likely that the product is still there. Really hard massage, to the point of pushing the product, could move it but to do that to your whole lip would be unusual

It is good to gently massage lips after filler.   I have never seen any case of massage causing the disappearance of the filler so do not worry.   One syringe of filler is a quite small dose so you may not see great change.   Check your pre filler pictures and I am sure you will see change.  My Best, Dr Commons
