Thank you for your excellent question. Compression garments after liposuction are most useful at limiting the amount of swelling present after surgery. They will not materially affect the surgical results obtained in the operating room and any marks and dents will be temporary. Hope this helps.
you should have a foam vest on under your garments to avoid any dents or irregularities. Best, Dr. Emer.
The long-term benefit of compressive garments for liposuction is questionable. In the short term they should generate uniform pressure over the area treated and should provide comfort.
Garments worn after liposuction are designed to be tight enough to help prevent swelling and fluid accumulation, and can often feel mildly uncomfortable. Like with any tight clothing, if there is a wrinkle or a tight spot, you may get a mark from a seam etc. It is possible, however, if you are really getting deep dents and marks, that your garment is too tight. If you experience a lot of swelling following surgery this can occur.See your surgeon and determine if the garment is too tight. If it isn't, try to apply it without any wrinkles to avoid dents and marks. Good luck!
Is your garment too tight? You might need a looser garment. Best to check with your doctor. Good luck.
It might be too tight. It is normal for your compression garment to provide pressure on the tissues that have been operated on - that, in fact, is the intent. But it's also a question of degree and if it is cutting in too much, it can be uncomfortable and, at the extreme, impair circulation.Though unlikely, you should contact your PS to go over the specifics of this. You may, for example, switch to a slightly larger garment for this portion of your recovery, after which you can go back down to what you're wearing now.Either way, your surgeon will know best.I hope that this helps and good luck,Dr. Alan EnglerMember of #RealSelf500
