Will my Nexplanon Implant in my left arm (birth control) still work after I get arm lipo?

Question

I have a Nexplanon Implant in my left arm and was wondering whether or not I should take it out before I get arm lipo. If I leave it inserted in my arm will it still gunction properly after surgery?

The implant can be removed or damaged with liposuction if its a hi definition procedure.  I suggest telling your surgeon where it is placed.  Best, Dr. Emer.

You should definitely tell your plastic surgeon you have this implant.I would discuss this with them both the surgeon who implanted device and your plastic surgeon.Liposuction by itself will most likely not damage the implant but I don't think anyone will give you a 100% guarantee of this either.The procedure could potentially interfere with the absorption of the medication from your implant temporarily.it may be wise to have a back up form of birth control for the next few months after having liposuction.I don't think anyone can give you 100% definitive answer to your question.Best,Mats Hagstrom M.D.

I would recommend you have the implant removed prior to surgery.  It can be reimplanted 6 to 9 weeks after surgery.
