Lipo for localized fat on lower shins? (Photo)

Question

I'm 31, F, 158lbs and 5'7". I have fat on my lower legs including the front of my shins, in a way that significantly reduces the aesthetic of my leg and makes me self conscious to wear anything that shows the area. It's the only area of my body that does not seem responsive to exercise or weight loss. Is this an area that can be treated by lipo? If yes, what type? And would there be a Canadian provider?

I suggest you see an expert in lower leg contouring.  This type of liposuction needs a meticulous well trained surgeon who do a signficant amount of leg contouring.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question and photographs.  Liposuction is best used to treat areas of the body suffering with diet and exercise resistant fat.  If your lower shins/ankles demonstrate enough adipose tissue deposit liposuction can be performed to help reduce the overall size of this area.  Be sure to see a board certified plastic surgeon for this detailed of a procedure.

In properly selected cases it is a reasonable option. The main limitation is prolonged swelling and limited degree of change so expectations need to managed well. Small cannulas and optimum post-op compression are mandatory. See a surgeon who has experience doing this area.

I am not a big fan of ankle liposuction. I find that patients are often disappointed with the results and they often have long term swelling.  While it can be performed, I think that realistic expectations are key.

Very difficult area to lipo. I recommend a true lipo expert using suerifical small canna techniques. Or try THERMI SMOOTH 250 Rf external sessions for 10 weeks to see if this non surgical option works!

I have seen good result with liposuction around the ankle area.  Without an exam, I really don't know if you will see much of a difference with liposuction in the shin area.  Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person evaluation.
