Muscle repair will correct the separation in the sit-up muscles called the diastasis. If you can still fell a gap when you do a partial sit-up we might consider that the muscle repair has not worked out. If you can't tell, there is always the option of a second opinion to sort out what the issues might be.

Thank you very much for your question.Based on the pictures alone, it's difficult to say exactly what's going on.  An in-person exam is necessary to check for the status of the muscle repair.If you aren't happy with your result, and aren't happy with the answers your doctor is providing to you, you are certainly able to consult with another plastic surgeon for an evaluation (often this reinforces what your original doctor is doing, but not always).  Best of luck!
