Dr. Krochmal, Stephanie, and all the staff are fantastic. From the first time I spoke with Dr. Krochmal I knew I had found the right surgeon. He listens to what you want and is very honest about if it is possible and how to get the results you are looking for. He explains every step of what will be done and what to expect for recovery. He gave me results better than I even imagined possible. He really takes the time to understand you and your body. He always makes himself available for questions and concerns before and after surgery. Stephanie is also amazing. She responds quickly to questions (which I had a ton of) and is very fun to work with. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Krochmal and his staff. If you are looking for a surgeon who listens, supports you through ever step of the process, and truly cares make an appointment with Dr. Krochmal! You will not be disappointed he delivers amazing results and an amazing experience from start to finish.
It's been a month since I've gotten my surgery and I couldn't be happier. I've never been so confident about stepping outside of the house and feeling good about doing so. I received the bra-line backlift and I've never been happier. Plus, my sides when in a lot more than my first surgery from a different doctor. I would definitely recommend doctor Krochmal and any future surgical procedures that I consider, I will definitely be back. Even once I move out of state. He literally changed my life.
Thanks to Dr. Krockmal, my experience of getting a breast reduction during my college years was nothing less than excellent. Dr. Krockmal listened to my concerns and communicated the process in such a clear way that I never became anxious which I usually do with other doctors. Dr.Krochmal’s talent to apply his skills to what patients are looking for and give them the best results possible is extraordinary. On top of that, he is very passionate, caring, and very detail oriented. My results were nothing short of amazing, and my life has dramatically changed for the better. I cannot thank Dr Krochmal enough!
Dr Krochmal and his team were fantastic. They were patient and answered all of my questions to make me feel at ease. I went with Dr. Krochmal’s recommended implant size and they were perfect. He is attentive at all stages of the process and I’m so happy with my results! The entire team at MAE was phenomenal. The coordinators and nurses who assisted with my surgery couldn’t have been better. Forever grateful! I got a breast augmentation, nipple reconstruction and abdominal liposuction with etching. I returned to work after 5 days and had no complications!
I was fortunate to have Dr. Krochmal perform a " mommy makeover" which included a tummy tuck, breast lift with implants, and liposuction. Dr. Krochmal and his staff are prompt, kind, and truly make you feel like you are their only patient. The outcome of my surgery is nothing short of incredible. I am THRILLED with my results. I look and feel better then I ever could of imagined. My recovery was much easier then I expected ( which is saying alot, I am the mother of two toddlers that never stop moving!). My only regret is not having the procedure sooner. Dr. Krochmal is nothing short of exceptional.

Dr. Krochmal did a AMAZING job. I somehow feel like I should do more and more ( I know I’m crazy) how’s not? I will do something else more, ( of corse ) but not for my great tommy.
I could not have had a better experience. Dr. K has an office setup where half the office is typical and the other have is a board certified surgical suite. He has numerous surgical privileges at nearby hospitals as well. His staff were very kind and courteous. This was my first ever surgery so I had my concerns and I also am a nurse so I had the medical background to understand. He was truly amazing about talking with me and providing a relaxing and anxiety free environment. I am so so happy with my results. It is exactly what I wanted and he made sure that we had the same vision of end results. A dr that cares and has a good soul is hard to find these days, but Dr. K is absolutely one of the few.
Where do I begin...my experience with Dr. Krochmal and his entire team has been amazing so far. I'm 4 weeks post-op: liposuction to lower back, stomach, and mons pubis region, finished with abdomen muscle plication and removal of excess skin on stomach (the "tummy tuck" portion). Even though the swelling last for months, I'm already THRILLED with my results :). Starting with my consult, I immediately felt at ease with Dr. K. One of the things he initially said, that stuck out to me, is that it's a "team effort" - meaning the patient and him need to work together to achieve positive results. He really listens and customizes the procedure based on your body and your desired outcome. He's forthright and genuinely cares - when I showed him a quote from another doctor, he said, I know him, he's a fantastic doctor, too, and I have no doubt if you go with him and not me, you'll still be in great hands. I LOVED that, as it proved to me that he really just wants what's best for the patient. I had a pre-op appointment 2 weeks prior to the surgery, where he took photos and explained on a screen exactly what he'd be doing and why. We agreed on where the scar would be optimally placed, as well. The nurse explained to me pre-op instructions (how to prepare, what to eat, etc., as well as post-op instructions), and gave me all of my prescriptions to be filled ahead of time. The day of the surgery was simple - I arrived, met with the nurse and got an IV, and then Dr. K came in, took a look at my body, made some markings, and showed me where he'd hide my scar (using the underwear I was wearing). I also met the anesthesiologist, which was reassuring. About 20 seconds after I laid down, I was out. Next thing I knew, I woke up in the hospital bed and the nurse helped get me comfortable, gave me water, and started me on the necessary pain meds. My favorite part about my experience with Dr. K is that he is INVOLVED - meaning, he wants to see his patients regularly, to stay on top of their recovery and make sure everything looks right as the healing process continues. It's not just a surgery-and-dash; I saw him the morning after my surgery (I'd stayed the night), then the following day he had me come back. 3 days later, I went back in again. And then weekly for the following 3 weeks. Now that I'm at 4 weeks post op, I won't go back for another month. But I know that I can reach out to Dr. K and his team at any point with questions. In fact, at one point, about a week after surgery, I had some stinging at one of my drain sites, so I made an appointment. An hour or so later, Dr. K called me directly from his cell phone to talk through it, saying he didn't want me to drive all the way out there if it was just a "get through the pain" type of thing, which it was. He had me text him photos of the drain site, and quickly texted me back saying all looked normal and fine. He saved me a 45 minute uncomfortable car ride by being accessible and open to important patient communication. HIGHLY recommend Dr. K, if you want to feel like you're the only patient every single time you see your doctor. He cares about the outcome, both short and long-term, and his expertise is obvious from his education and multiple boards and certifications he's on/received.
Dr. Krochmal is amazing! He did a breast reduction for me and the results were nothing short of spectacular! It’s been almost a year since the procedure and I have nothing short of happy with the results. Thank you Dr. Krochmal!!!!!
I had considered liposuction surgery for years but put it off because I thought I could take care of my problem areas with diet and exercise. Unfortunately, regardless of how much weight I lost, my outer hips just didn’t respond. After more than 20 years of frustration and not feeling fully confident in my clothes, I moved forward with surgery and I am so happy I did. I interviewed four physicians in downtown Chicago and surrounding suburbs and immediately knew that Dr. Krochmal was the right physician for me. He took a lot of time in the consultation to listen, detailed what he would recommend doing and provided both invasive and non-invasive options for me to consider. In addition to feeling confident in Dr. Krochmal’s skills, I appreciated the time and follow-up that his Patient Care Coordinator Michelle dedicated to me – all of the nurses and staff are warm and friendly and just made the process that much better. I’m now four weeks post-surgery and I’m back to my workout routine. I saw an immediate change and it continues to improve each day! I highly recommend Dr. Krochmal and the MAE team – my only regret is that I didn’t do this sooner!
Yes. However, some patients don't need it. Best to talk with a local/regional plastic surgeon that performs liposuction with abdominoplasty (and performs fat grafting so you aren't "throwing fat away") to discuss your options.Best,Dr. Dan KrochmalMAE Plastic SurgeryChicago, IL
Thank you for your question. And congratulations on the weight loss! I'm sorry to hear about the prostate cancer, however.Although you desire an abdominoplasty, the more important thing is the treatment for your prostate cancer. I would discuss the possibility with your urologist, oncologist, and radiation oncologist and see what they say. They will discuss how an abdominoplasty will alter their treatment plan (or not), and this will be helpful information for the plastic surgery.Best,Dr. Dan KrochmalMAE Plastic SurgeryChicago, IL
Thank you for your question. Yes, you very likely can have an abdominoplasty after you had your tubal ligation. It is very common to do an abdominoplasty after a person has abdominal/gynecological procedures. I recommend you consult with several local/regional board certified plastic surgeons to discuss your options.Best,Dr. Dan KrochmalMAE Plastic SurgeryChicago, IL
Thank you for your question. An insurance company may cover the removal of excess skin below your belly button (called a "panniculectomy") if you have documented chronic infections, or a history of massive weight loss if that's part of your benefts. They typically don't cover a full "abdominoplasty" (repairing the muscles with repositioning the belly button). I would contact your insurance company to discuss your benefits.Best,Dr. Dan KrochmalMAE Plastic SurgeryNorthbrook, IL
Thank you for your question. Plastic surgeons seem to have been moving away from laser energy for skin tightening over the past few years, and more towards radiofrequency-based energy devices for skin tightening. I strongly prefer the BodyTite system. Of course, some patients have too much skin for any non-surgical device to treat, and surgery for skin removal is optimal at that point.Best,Dr. Dan KrochmalMAE Plastic SurgeryChicago, IL
