Lump after Juvederm, will it smooth out? (Photo)

Question

I have a small lump after having Juvaderm injected in top lip (2 days ago). There is also a bruise, but only concerned with the round lump that hangs. Is this normal and will it smooth out on its own?

Knock on wood I have done fillers and have never had this probelm for 18 years knowing abnd being an expert in injection tachnique and location and amount to inject.  However draining it or hyaluronidase would be options to remove this bump which could be disfiguring.

If it has been over a week and a lump persists, see your Dr to see if firm massage can settle it flat. If this does not help it may require injection with hyaluronidase to dissolve the nodule. When injected with expert technique this should not occur, however it is treatable. Best, Dr P.

  only been two days. I'd advise to wait a week or two for the lump to
  resolve. If the lump has still not dissipated during this time you could
  have it dissolved with hyaluronidase by your injector. In the meantime, apply
  some light pressure to the lump to help it smooth out.

Wait 2 weeks and if it does not resolve, you can reverse it with hyaluronidase or needle extraction.  You can hold firm pressure for 5 mins a few times daily to help soften it at this time.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for sharing your question and photograph. It is common to have some swelling after filler injections due to the thin nature of the lip tissues.  Time will tell but over the next 2-3 weeks you should see a reduction in the size of this lump.  If it persists it can be dissolved with a small amount of hyaluronidase.  Hope this helps.

Thank you for your question. It is not uncommon to experience swelling and lumps after filler injections, however this should resolve in the next 2 weeks. I always advise my patients to ice the treated area to help resolve swelling. You can also gently massage the lump to help smooth it out. Please follow up with your injector if this persists after two weeks. All the best!

If you feel a lump in the first few days after filler I recommend that patients apply a warm compress and some gentle pressure to see if the lump can be reduced.  Otherwise I recommend that patients wait 2 weeks for the swell and bruising to resolve prior to determining if the lump needs to be dissolved.

Thanks for your question and sorry that you have this concern after the injection. You can use ice to the area and gentle massage – but most of this will resolve within two weeks – and if not, you can area injected with hyaluronidase which will dissolve the filler and the lump. Good luck.

This tend to be one of the most common complaints that we hear from patients who have had this done elsewhere.  It's why we massage the area pretty thoroughly to avoid this.  
It's also important that this be done soon after injection so that granulomas don't form, which can make correction much harder later.  I would contact the injector asap and let them know, so that they can re-assess and do this for you.
