I am a huge stomach sleeper and have been trying to prepare for my BA by making an active effort to sleep on my back which leads to me waking almost every hour. Will I ever be able to sleep on my stomach after a BA?
Answer: When can I sleep on my stomach after a breast augmentation? It won't surprise you to hear that this is a very common question. Every surgeon will have their own way of managing this and I suggest that, whoever you have your surgery with, you follow their advice. Having said that, I tend to tell my patients to avoid sleeping on their front for the first 4 to 6 weeks. In practice, this is not something that needs to be overstated as people naturally sleep in their most comfortable position. At some point between 6 and 12 weeks, people tend to find themselves quite naturally reverting to stomach sleeping. Mother Nature will let you know when you are ready!

Answer: Stomach-sleeping After a Breast Augmentation Thank you very much for your question. There is no restriction I place on my patients as to how they sleep after surgery. However, you may find it a bit uncomfortable for the first six weeks. After about six weeks, although sometimes a little longer, you will find it comfortable to once again sleep on your stomach. Once your implants have fully healed, there is no risk to sleeping in this position, so you will be able to return to the most comfortable position at night. If you have any further questions or concerns, I suggest bringing the subject up with your operating surgeon, who can explain what to expect from your breast augmentation recovery.

Answer: Don’t Fret, Only A Few Sleepless Nights! I completely understand your concerns, however after several weeks, you should be able to sleep on your stomach, if comfortable for you. Most patients adapt to sleeping on their back or their sides immediately after surgery and are actually more comfortable that way because the breasts are still tender and sleeping on the stomach would actually hurt. Be sure to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon and discuss your concerns. Good luck!

Answer: How long after a BA can you sleep on your stomach, if ever? Usually, patients are not advised to sleep on their stomach for the first month after surgery. Your breasts will be very sensitive at this point in time and the pain may be intolerable during lying on your stomach. Each surgeon, however, has his/her own protocols. Your surgeon would be your best resource of information regarding this.
