Hello, I am getting breast implants in 2 weeks. I would really like to do Botox for this deep vertical line in between my brows. That's the only place I want it, and I'm thinking of asking my surgeon if she can do it while I am in surgery. Is this a feasible scenario? If it is, how long can I expect botox to last? I am a complete newbie at all of this - I've never had surgery or any kind of injectable.
Answer: Botox During a Breast Augmentation Thank you very much for your questions and congratulations on your upcoming breast augmentation procedure. In general, there should be no problem getting Botox injections while you are under anesthesia for a breast augmentation. However, this will be up to the individual doctor’s personal protocols, as not every surgeon will be comfortable combining these techniques. Trust in a board certified plastic surgeon for your breast augmentation, and carefully follow their advice, as he/she best knows your situation and the surgery being performed.

Answer: Botox During Operation Thank you for the detailed question. I have done Botox for patients in the OR during a procedure before, however it is a treatment that needs to be repeated every 3-6 months. We do offer nitrous oxide for patients that are very anxious with injectables. I recommend contacting your board-certified plastic surgeon and discussing adding Botox to your surgery. At our practice we also provide consults via FaceTime or Skype for patients who live outside of NY. For more information, please visit our webpage.

Answer: Botox and breast augmentation Most plastic surgeons are indeed willing to perform Botox injections during surgical procedures. Botox is a relatively quick procedure, but many patients do enjoy the convenience of getting both their surgery and Botox done in one visit. The results from Botox typically last 3 months. I recommend contacting your surgeon to discuss this so that she may schedule accordingly. Best of luck with your procedure!

Answer: Botox and Breast Augmentation Botox® Cosmetic injections can be done while in surgery, however planned injection sites should be marked prior to anesthesia with the patient in the upright position and while he/she is animating their facial muscles. I recommend that the treated area not be rubbed or manipulated immediately after Botox® Cosmetic injections; I also recommend that you do not lean/bend over for the first few hours post-injection. Botox injections become fully apparent within 5-7 days and typically last for 3 to 6 months, with most individuals gradually returning to their former state. I recommend Botox® Cosmetic be repeated every 3 to 4 months. Hope this helps!James Lee, MDBoard Certified Plastic SurgeonQuebec, Canada

Answer: Botox Hi momto4tx, thank you for your question. You can absolutely request Botox to be done at the time of surgery. Botox typically lasts somewhere between 3-4 months and can take up to about 2 weeks to see it's full results. Consult with your surgeon before surgery to be evaluated to make sure you are a proper candidate for Botox. Good luck with your upcoming procedure.
