Can this step off/ shelf deformity be improved with only liposuction? (Photo)

Undermining the scars from a c section or tummy tuck is easy to do during the liposuction and makes such a dramatic improvement under local.

Liposuction can safely be performed after a tummy tuck after healing is complete.  The most important factor in determining effectiveness of a procedure like liposuction would be a good physical exam to determine the amount of fat vs scar tissue.  Options for a step off at the tummy tuck incision would include a scar revision with liposuction, a liposuction with subcision of the scar, a liposuction with fat transfer to the depressed areas of the scar, or possibly all three.   Consult with an expert in body contouring who has experience in revision liposuction or liposuction and fat transfer.

This type of issue can be improved with liposuction to the area. and should be done by someone experienced and does a more hi definition type procedure to get the skin to retract.  Best, Dr. Emer.

It seems that Liposculpting would acheive your goals and provide some significant improvement in your shape specifically the shelf.

Like a section of the area above the indentation would help transition the appearance of the indentation however, I suspect that scar revision and repair of the deeper tissue of the incision would be the best solution in terms of correcting the full aspect of the indentation.All the best, Dr Remus Repta

This is a somewhat common problem after an abdominoplasty, especially if the fat layer deep to Scarpa's fascia (a layer separate from the superficial fat) is not removed or the central abdomen is not liposuctioned. Liposuction of the central abdomen above the scar and the area below it frequently will improve the appearance significantly. If this is not adequate, then a scar revision may be required. Make sure you see a board certified plastic surgeon with significant experience in this.
