Smart lipo revision using syringe for small amount of fat. How does that work?

For syringe liposuction to actually work the area must be very very small.  It is more likely to see a difference if you have tumescent liposuction using traditional cannulae.

Using a syringe fat can be aspirated through very small cannula. This sounds like the technique that your surgeon is proposing. It's completely legitimate.

I think it is best to discuss your specific procedure with your surgeon. Syringe liposuction can be done without suction in small areas. Best of luck.

Liposuction is simply a technique where fat is removed by inserting a thin stainless steel cannula with small openings at the tip that are connected to suction.Dissection can come from a vacuum pump or from any source that's able to create a vacuum or negative pressure.If a syringe is fastened to the back of a liposuction cannula, the plunger of the syringe can be drawn back, creating a vacuum. This can be used to successfully harvest fat.It is not an efficient way of harvesting large amounts of fat, and it's usually only used to do a very small area of liposuction, revisions or when harvesting small amounts of fat for fat transfer.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom, M.D.
