I'm a 45 y woman and 6 months ago I had an extended tummy tuck with liposuction to the flanks, my healing its been smooth no complications, but 2 days ago I started noticing my abdomen and waist hard and painful to the touch, and swollen I haven't hurt myself or anything, is this normal?

Is it normal? Not really. It is possible though. The liposuction aspect of surgery tends to lead to a longer period of inflammation that can take months to resolve. This is generally pretty done by the 6 month mark though.

Hello, the inflammation after liposuction and tummy tuck can go until 12 months post op, need to wait for the swollen to stabilize to see your final results.

The symptoms you describe are common at the beginning of recovery, but if they have subsided over the months and then returned without known strain or injury, that is not typical.  I encourage you to visit with your surgeon for an evaluation.

Anytime there is a significant change, you should return to your plastic surgeon for their evaluation.  It is not uncommon for the swelling to resolve and now you feel the muscle underneath which feels firmer than what you are used too.  The nerves regenerate which may cause new onset tenderness.
