A tummy tuck is designed for aesthetic purposes. While there may be some improvement in your posture and back pain, it is not guaranteed. There would probably be another treatment that would be more effective.
There are many causes of back pain. If your back pain starts from muscle strain, reinforcing the torn muscle might help. However, tummy tucks do not generally help with back pain.
Thank you for your question! The abdominal wall can be weakened after pregnancy and (or) significant weight gain & loss. By repairing the muscle, not only does the appearance of your abdominal area improve, but your core strength as well. The repair of the muscle will cinch your waist like an inner corset, which will accentuate your curves. Your expectations and health will dictate the best procedure(s) for you. I suggest a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to go over the options that best address your goals. Best of luck! Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs or told us your height and weight. However, I often see improved posture and pain relief with a breast lift. You may benefit from a breast reduction but without additional information I cannot give you an accurate answer.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
Dear mommyx31994,it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, tummy tuck will remove loose skin and tighten your abdominal muscles but it is unlikely that it will prevent back pain. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
A tummy tuck with muscle tightening can potentially help your back. However every case is different and it depends on the nature and cause of your back problems.
A tummy tuck is designed to remove excess skin and fat and repair abdominal wall separation. Some patients report improvement in posture and back pain related to the strengthening of the core, but there is no way to guarantee that will occur.
A tummy tuck will have no impact on posture or spinal condition. If anything it’s difficult to maintain an upright posture during early recovery from this procedure. The only indication for a tummy tuck is to treat abdominal skin laxity and or muscle separation from previous pregnancies.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
Dear lizrmo, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations...
Please ask your surgeon this question. They will have specific pre-op instructions that you should follow (and that may be different from those outlined by other surgeons).
Thank you for your question & photos! Liposuction will remove excess fat with some retraction of skin. A tummy tuck will address excess skin & repair of the abdominal muscle. The abdominal wall can be weakened after pregnancy and (or) significant weight gain & loss. By repairing the muscle, not...
Thank you for sharing your question. It would be uncommon to have scar tissue create such pain 7 years after surgery but I would revisit your concerns with your surgeon to get the best advice, and to help further eliminate potential causes.

That's interesting... I think the surgeon did a nice job with the traditional muscle tightening but in your case some different directions of the plication sutures may have improved the final outcome. Your pregnancy and the way you carried the baby likely stretched these areas and during the TT...
